^^^ I Had Crooked Tree for the first time a few months ago and the taste seemed off. I'm not sure if it was a bad batch or it had just been sitting on the shelf for a long time (I hate it when breweries don't put dates on). Maybe that is how the beer just tastes, either way I was let down. And why on earth would you leave Hopslam sitting around that long, I've noticed a big drop off in hops only after a couple months. I would think even this years batch has a different taste to it now.

When to the dirt track races last night. Yuengling with dinner, crushed a few Genesee Ices on the way down. They had nothing but the big three there, disappointing.

Boris the story with the Hopslams. The two from last year ended up in my stash and after I realized it six months had gone by. So we just let them sit to see what would happen. The 2 from this year were in my not 'really stash stash'. We grabbed them last night because we were out of Hoppy beer. I know your not really supposed to save IPA as the hops will go away after a few months, but when ya have around 200 beers sitting around stuff like this will happen. I've still got three 3 liter bottles of Stone I need to drink. A 2004 Oaked Arrogant Bastard, a 2005 Oaked Arrogant Bastard, and a 10th Anniversary IPA. Well the IPA will defiantly taste different, but the Oaked might be alright...or they might be destroyed at this point if any air got to them through the seal, but I love the look those huge bottles.

Yeah, because it never stays on the shelves.

I would be bitter about that, except I'm happy that so many people are branching out and trying it. It's a solid go-to, and it's not too expensive. A good Imperial IPA to break into (probably more newbie-friendly than the Maharajah).

We did find a left over half bottle of 90 Minute this morning that we over looked pouring last night. Oh well I'm just glad the little Hadji Mart down the road seems to have it in stock most of the time. (and just started selling Maharajah) I did have some of the Bluegrass Brewing Bourbon Barrel Stout the other night too. (all 4 bottles actually) It was tasting mighty fine at the time and I couldn't stop. Thanks to you bringing it up in a post the other night I wanted to revisit this one. Dark. Ass. Beer.

The Bourbon Barrel Ale that tastes 'fake' to me was the Alltech Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. This stuff has too much Bourbon flavor as if it was added afterwards. At the Jungle Jim's Beerfest they were combining it with Breckenridge Vanilla Porter and call it Queens Silk. I didn't try it there, but I bought a bottle of each to make my own at home the last time I was at their store. We'll see how that really is. I'm thinking the Vanilla might cut the strong Bourbon flavor and it might just work.

So far no beers tonight as I'm having some Riesling. The Wife did pick up a bomber of Ruination and Arrogant Bastard that are chilling in the fridge, so those babies might have to be put away later tonight.

Just picked up a bottle of Lagunitas Lucky 13 Alt. Jacked up to try it, supposed to be a really good beer.

I've been wanting to buy one of those for a long time, and actually think they might get better sitting on the shelf a bit.

As for tonight I'm going to try and drink something different for once. I'm gradually making my way through 3 cases of beer left over from our party, so after a couple Shoals Pale Ales I might pull something off the shelf. I'm thinking Lagunitas Little Sumpin Wild, Orval, maybe Three Philosophers.

Two Brothers Resistance vs Green Flash West Coast.

West Coast hands down was better. I've always liked Resistance as it's aged in French Oak, but the West Coast had all the hops and some nice bitterness that put it over the top. Felt like a IPA...well a huge hopped America West Coast Style IPA. It had been a while since I had the West Coast and forgot how great it is.

Had the Green Flash West Coast IPA last night at the winking lizard along w/ Stone IPA and Great Divide Titan IPA. It was the first time I had tasted anything from Green Flash and it was excellent. I enjoyed it the most of the 3.

Tonight it is/was about the Harpoon Leviathan. It has been a long while since I had this little treasure. The Wife picked it up earlier with a few other brews for us and The Stash. Very nice stuff.. It has a nice sweet flavor to it. (Kinda like Fat Tire) I couldn't understand why after 2 of them I had a little buzz. I forgot it was an Imperial IPA that comes in at 10% ABV, only after I read the label. That being said I'm finishing of the last of it...Wow and Cheers !!! (I even like burping this stuff through my nose, which I have twice while typing this post...Call me Foster Brooks !!!)

The Leviathan series is really good. They do a lot of different kinds, with the Imperial Rye the most recent release: http://www.harpoonbrewery.com/index.cfm?pid=116620

I haven't seen the others, but if I do I will try them. I've never had a bad beer from Harpoon. Very. Solid. Brewery.

Hopping Frog Scotish Red Ale last night (or something like that). Approve. Did not like the turbo shandy.

It was the Avery White Rascal last night. They were going down pretty damn good. It did feel weird pouring an Avery brew from a can.

Agree on the Turbo Shandy, although my wife likes it. Have to try the Red Ale.

Picked up a Left Hand mix pack yesterday, Milk Stout and Sawtooth Ale were good. Not impressed with the Pisner, and I'm going to give the Porter a try tonight.

Went to a nice little Pub that has a awesome offering of beers. I ended up trying the North Point Diabolical on tap. Decent little beer that I've never had before. Had a few others that I don't really recall, but BORIS was our desert.

Now that I'm home it's the 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die IPA. I might be moving on to the Hop Crisis in a little while.
