You can't go wrong either way. Both are fantastic brews.

You seem to have done well. It's always sweet when you choose a bunch of beers you've never had and they all end up good.bigdaddy2003;1196252 wrote:I'm really pleased with all of my choices.

Yes, and like I said I haven't tried most of the beers in the section so I have something to look forward to. I mean I'm sure I wont like all of them but it's not a bad thing to keep trying them.I Wear Pants;1196253 wrote:You seem to have done well. I was just afraid of him blowing his palate out before he got to the Dead Guy. The Monster is a Monster...This coming from a not so large GL fan. However Monster is the exception.O-Trap;1196251 wrote:You can't go wrong either way. Both are fantastic brews.

Tackling the Lake Erie Monster now. Wow now I'm totally pleased with my decisions and I'm not a huge Great Lakes guy. Well I've only had Commodore Perry and Edmund Fitzgerald but barely cared for either of them.

Out of their year round stuff Eliot Ness is by far the best IMO.bigdaddy2003;1196259 wrote:Tackling the Lake Erie Monster now. Lake Erie Monster and Christmas Ale are my favorite seasonals of theirs.
Black Out Stout I like at the brewpub.

To tell ya how much I respect the LE Monster, we left a nice selection of beers and went to a place where we could have it on tap. Luckily I, and The Wife can do that with the selections we have here. We looked at it as a late desert...and had a few of them.

I'm digging it from this bottle so I can only imagine how good it is on tap. I think that goes for all of the beers I have tried tonight.Curly J;1196262 wrote:To tell ya how much I respect the LE Monster, we left a nice selection of beers and went to a place where we could have it on tap. On tap its not bad, but will never buy it to drink at home. Out of the can is pretty bad. My buddy loves their black lager though, nothing special IMO.bigdaddy2003;1196195 wrote:Anyone on here a fan of Guinness?

I thought it was alright out of the bottle but I imagine it's pretty decent on tap. I'm not a fan of cans so it doesnt surprise me that you didn't like it from the can. I will probably try the black lager in my next 6 pack.Commander of Awesome;1196322 wrote:On tap its not bad, but will never buy it to drink at home. Out of the can is pretty bad. I've never been a lager/pilsner fan ... OR a fan of cans ... but this was the exception for me:

Anyone have good black IPA suggestions? Had my first a few weekends back (Black Top from New Glarus) and I'm curious to try more of the style. Would prefer it leans more on hops than on malts, but am willing to try anything.

Love Black IPAs, Pitch Black IPA by Widmer Bros is excellent. Love it.
Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale by Stone and Iniquity (Imperial Black Ale) by Southern Tier are also fantastic.

Both of the ones that COA mentioned. Stone 15th Anny is also a BIPA. I wish we could get New Glarus in Ohio.gorocks99;1197052 wrote:Anyone have good black IPA suggestions? +1 to Stone SSR. 21st Amendment Back in Black and Heavy Seas Black Cannon are good choices too.Commander of Awesome;1197057 wrote:Love Black IPAs, Pitch Black IPA by Widmer Bros is excellent. Love it.

Tonight I bought one bottle of The Brew Kettle White Rajah IPA. Brewed in Strongsville. I like it.
And I bought a sixer of Troegenator Doublebock. Haven't tried that yet.
Had to take it easy tonight, driving to Indianapolis in the morning.
