Not my thing, but I wouldn't turn it down if offered by a host.

Then again, that applies to ALMOST anything. I have a relative who has excellent taste in beer, but if he is going somewhere where the beer selection isn't choice, he will bring his own beer and decline if anyone tries to get him a Bud Lite, PBR, etc. While I appreciate his taste, I find that rude and not indicative of a good guest. Just feels like it's snubbing the host's hospitality.

As such, I don't look down on anyone for drinking anything, good or not, because if offered, I'd probably drink it.

We're related ??? LOL

I've been known to bring my own 6er's to my bro-in-laws house along with some Pilsner glasses. All that is there is Miller Lite. Plus he doesn't need to support my habit as his friends usually show up without beers and drink his. I've even been known to share mine. Let them sample it and see what they think. You have to remember he and his friends are hicks.

Now that I think about it I brought quite a few cold beers to Justin's house last year. What wasn't drank was left there for him. I don't think he complained.

Got too full eating to have another. I did share a Rogue Mocha Porter for desert with The Wife.

Now having a LE Monster at my favorite pub. Might have to share one more with The Wife before heading to the Jungle for more beer and cigars.

Has anyone tried Batch 19? I had one today, apparently it is made from a long lost pre prohibition recipe.

I wasn't impressed.

That's the same price I pay for a 4 pack, I'm surprised. The 6 pack on the side though is another story.

You could store this for years, but it would taste like KaKa...well just different. Drink it fresh. I'm trying to drink as many as I can now.

To answer your question, 2 months max before the hops start to go. I tried it once with DFH 90 Min and after 3 months it was totally 'different'. Not bad, but not within the flavor profile.

If you are talking about the GL Wright Pils, I passed on that. I did have a nice discussion with someone about it when I was taking the LE Monster picture. He said it's rare and he had it once at the brewery. They actually said at the brewery this is one of few places that you could find it, Jungle Jim's that is. I guess there might be a lawsuit from the Wright family about naming it that. I passed only because it's a pilsner and I'm not a pilsner guy...Plus I could still grab a sixer tomorrow of it on my way to work, if I wanted.

Yeah I'm not a huge pilsner guy either. Hot day on draft/in the early afternoon I drink a pilsner, for keeping it at home though I wouldn't. Just surprised by the price, its rare I can get a 6 pack of anything I want for less than $10. Most of the time its $12-14.

What type of beer should be drank within a few months and what kind can be stored away?

Not familiar with Bigfoot, KBS is a stout and Double Bastard is a Ale. GLLEM is a IIPA. Is it the IIPA & IPAs that need to be fresh?

Beers high in hops (pale ales, IPAs, DIPAs) should be drank right away as hops will fade over time. Bigger beers will last longer (Barleywines, Imperial Stouts, Strong Ales....), a lot of belgian beers as well. Always check bottles for dates, some will have a best by date. Over time the beer changes, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. Some people have different opinions on a beer like Hopslam; a lot of people say it should be drank within the first month or so because the hop profile drops so fast, but I've read a couple people were aging them on purpose to turn them into a good Barleywine.
