Chicago is gonna suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Not just the foot+ of snow we're supposed to get, but 14-25' waves from Lake Michigan.

Basically they know that northern Ohio is gonna get slammed. The predictions on Central Ohio change every 45 minutes or so. From a tiny bit of ice and sleet and a ton of rain, to 6" of snow and .25" of ice.

NWS says 2-4" of snow tonight (NE Ohio).....3-5" of snow Tuesday morning, then mixing with fr. rain & sleet Tuesday afternoon.

Fr. rain/sleet/rain late Tuesday into Weds., then a little more snow.

If the ice stays away (or light)...it wont be so bad.

Those actually would be good waves. You NEVER see that kind of stuff anywhere along the southeastern coast of the US.

We lost power at my house for three days. Luckily we had a fireplace and could keep warm. Our neighbors had a generator so we spent some time over there so we didn't go stir crazy at our place. I wouldn't mind getting another good storm but only if it causes a level 3 emergency so I can stay home from work, lol. I can't imagine trying to get up and down my driveway with snow and ice. I can barely make it with just a light dusting.

You can tell people are starting to freak out, as the NWS pages are either loading slowly or just failing to load.

NWS Pittsburgh has started upgrading some Winter Storm Watches to Warnings. Columbiana County they're saying 3-7", then 1/4-1/2" ice, Carroll I believe they're saying 1-3", then the same ice. The counties border one another (Carroll is to the south), so if the system just tracks even 10-20 miles off of where they think those numbers could change drastically either to more snow, or less snow but more ice.

I remember that. I was lucky in that I was about 5-7 miles south of the ice line. I had no problems, but just a bit north ice was everywhere. My mom, who lives a couple of counties west of me and a few miles north was without power for a LONG time ('bout a week, I think).

Yes, I remember. It was pretty cold there once the action slowed down.....It was actually 6 days.

Man, I remember being on the phone with her and she seemed really upset at the time. I thought it was just because of, you know, being stuck at home with no electricity. But now I know that being around someone...uh...lacking in certain essentials must have been what was driving her over the edge. Fortunately, she spared me the details.

Looks like here is 1/4 to 1/2" of ice with 1 to 3" snow. That should be enough ice to bring down many power lines.
