But you will still have to wait 2 years to get a new phone at the $200 price right?

Unless you are the primary account on a family plan I believe.

Or if you use myverizon online to pay your bill, unless they did away with that.

Under Verizon's new upgrade policy, you cannot get a discount on a new phone until you've had your device for at least 20 months on a 2 year contract. So they no longer have the annual upgrade option.

This falls more in line with the competition. Other carriers will let customers upgrade after a year, but will only give them $50-$75 off the price of the phone at that point in time.

When did that go into effect? I got an email in December which was one year after I last upgraded saying I was eligible. I was just waiting for iphone to drop as well as any other new droid phones before I got a new phone.

The new policy took effect January 16th. I'm pretty sure if you had signed a contract prior to it, you are still eligible to get one more annual upgrade. However, this will be your last one.

Make sure you really like the phone you are deciding on. Because you're going to have it for 2 years. Unless you pay more up front and just sign a 1 year contract.

Sprint still has the upgrade every year for the main line if I'm correct. At least that's what my account said last month. I hope they don't change this cause I like to upgrade every year as it is.

Yes...for now at least...Sprint still offers a full upgrade every year for their premiere customers. How long that stays around is still yet to be seen.

I think they'll keep it for a while it's the only thing really worth it in their "premiere program". Plus it's the only big 1 up they have over Verizon and ATT right now. Though I love sprint so I'll never switch anyways. I don't get the whole Iphone 4 craze. It's a nice phone don't get me wrong but it seems so dated. And to be stuck with it for 2 years. That would suck.
