Or holding hands and gently leading him through the door hahaha.
Seriously though, Mubarack is due on tv in about 30 minutes and will most likely resign. Where he goes and what happens next is anyone's guess.

I listened to the speech. He did not resign. But promised constitutuional amendments. This may not go well with those that were expecting this to be his resignation speech.

Yeah, no one is happy now. He stayed, but transferred some power to the VP. We'll see how it goes now...

CNN reports that the CIA thinks he will step down tonight.

Tonight has come for Egypt and he's still there. He may be transferring power but, like the Wizard of Oz, he's still behind the curtain flipping switches and throwing levers.

The people of Egypt are doing everything they are supposed to; peacefully protesting (the pro-Mubarak supporters were the ones initiating the violence) and asking for the democratic process to actually be enforced. I can only assume that this is not going to last much longer (peaceful protests) and these people will resort to violence.

Statement from the White House last night, pretty strong if you ask me.
http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/02/10/president_obamas_statement_on_egypt
Also, apparently the military still supports Mubarack in "office" (no definition of the term) until Sept.
However, according to Egyptian state tv (take it for what its worth), Mubarack and his wife have left Cario to head to Sharm el-Sheik probably. I would assume that this is in response to protesters being outside his gates.

I wish I had time to read up on this guy. I read an article last night that he is the second wealthiest person in the world...at an estimated estate totalling 70 billion....with assets all around the globe. I find that to be a tad appalling...but then again...I am a class warfarist.... I guess.

Now the fun begins.
The Middle East's most populated nation now gets to try the great democratic experiment.

This is funny, a blogger at CNAS, well respected on all things military/ COIN/ etc.
As he was writing the blog, Mubarack stepped down:

As long as they need to, until the elections in September. Since they are the only thing that can really unite the country, unless they start to crackdown near September, the country will stand united with them.fish82;674247 wrote:I'm curious to see how long the military decides to hold power.
Now, the questions become the makeup of the parliament, and the debate over the powers of the new President.
