East
Guard Dwyane Wade
Guard Derrick Rose
Forward LeBron James
Forward Amare Stoudemire
Center Dwight Howard

West
Guard Kobe Bryant
Guard Chris Paul
Forward Carmelo Anthony
Forward Kevin Durant
Center Yao Ming

This is why I don't like it being a 100% fan vote. Yao Ming in no way, shape, or form deserves to be an All Star.

Less than enthusiastic about the All Star game this year.

I had the East starters right on. In the west though I had NeNe instead of Yao (No big time centers in the west and I didn't wan to vote for a guy out for the year), D. Williams instead of Chris Paul, and Dirk instead of Carmello.

The Spurs with the best record in the NBA and not one starter? That's the tragedy.

Yao got almost 930,000 votes....I wonder how many of those were from people in China?

Tragedy? No.

Even if it was voted on by anyone other than fans, I don't think the Spurs get a starter anyway. Manu is the only player who you could make an argument for. And when you compare him to the other guards in the West, he isn't in the top 2.

I mean who else could you vote for as center? There is no star center in the West at all. I voted for NeNe but I can see why some people chose Yao by default lol.

Someone who actually is playing.....

Yao Ming has played in 5 games this year. FIVE games.

You should have to have played in at least 25-30 games in order to be an All Star.

I think it's more that a majority of his votes probably came from China, and they don't care whether he has played or not. They follow their athletes with die hard loyalty. Hell he's been in the league for 8 years and this will be his 8th all-star appearance.

Which is why the fan vote should only be a portion of the balloting.

Especially when a player comes from a country that has 32847239847923874298374 people.

I think it should be half fans vote, and half players vote.

I like the NFL. 1/3 fans, media, and players.

I think it was hoopsworld.com(not the best site but did make a good argument) that made its case for him filling in for Yao. I dont have a link for it because I read it through their Iphone app.

As long as both Durant and Love are backups I'd be OK with the starters. (minus Yao)

Stern gets to name the starting center now for the West, I think it comes out once the reserves are named.

Maybe it should just go to the next highest vote getter at center?

The Celtics have the best record in the East and they don't have a starter either, is that a "tragedy" also?

Centers in the West.....

Yao Ming
Andrew Bynum
Nene
Marc Gasol
Emeka Okafor
Brendan Haywood
Marcus Camby
Chris Kaman
Andris Biedrins
DeMarcus Cousins

As you can see, not that many star centers in the west. The only two that you can considered a star is Yao and maybe Bynum. But both those players rarely played this year so I don't think they are worthy of an all-star spot. NeNe on the other hand is averaging 15 points and 7 rebound per game on a good Nuggets team, which are better stats than any other of the centers. I think he is deserving of the center spot in the west.

This is probably the first year I'm really looking forward to the All Star game. The dynamic of the league has really changed over the last year and I think it will be interesting to see who goes out and really tries to establish themselves.
