I'd likely choose a warmer destination given the timing, save Chi town for later and catch a game or something. Just me though, I hate winter, winter weather, parkas, washer fluid, salt...too many clothes on chicks...you know

Chicago is probably your best bet. San Diego is awesome, but might be too expensive plus too much time on an airplane.

Vegas.
You will spend too much time in traffic/traveling between places in Chicago or NY. In Vegas you'll be on the strip 20mins after you land if you take a carry-on. Plus you can take advantage of the time zone change.

Will be taking my 6 year old girl to Chicago for a 2-3 day trip. Any suggestions? Saw they had a childrens museum and american girl is there.

I would stay away from NYC right now. There is still a lot of snow on the ground from the past few storms making it difficult to walk around and this is definitely a walking city.
I would give my vote to Vegas.

Vegas, then DC.
Vegas because it is Vegas.
DC as it has some great bars and clubs, some of the best restaurants in the country (on par with NYC), and great places to have lunch and explore during the day.
