Popcorn is great. Thanks for telling me about it. It is really oily though.

The Jucy Lucy is the burger with cheese inside. It is unbelievable. I would show a picture, but I only have one on facebook.

I found this one though...

It's a small place. So make sure you go at a time when people don't usually eat. And take cash, they do not take cards (but do have an ATM inside).

Get the Jucy Lucy with a basket of fries, you could honestly probably do two Lucy's.

We also went to the Town Talk Diner...it is nice. Has a bit of a night life to it, I guess, so if you have kids, make sure you go when the night life isn't going on.

The oil is a small price to pay. Did you get the Chicago Mix?

I saw the Jucy Lucy on a TV show, Food Feuds I think. I'd love to try one.

I came up with a Jucy Lucy maneuver by myself (I am sure others do it, but I never saw anyone do it):

Everything is served with wax paper, so I took a handful of fries and put on the wax paper. When I bit into the burger, the cheese spewed out onto my fries. I then had cheese fries and NO cheese was wasted onto the wax paper. Clever huh?

But, be very aware, let the burger cool a bit before you really start into it. The cheese and grease from the burger is VERY hot. I suggest taking a small bite to let some of the heat and steam out first.

Nice Tiger!

I had an hour wait when I went. That's good timing. Maybe it helps that the weather is miserable too...

Matt's Bar = a gods given gift. The food was great. The Jucy Lucy is a must have if you are ever in the Minneapolis area. You probably would never go there if you were just a outsider. The curb appeal is not great but once you step inside you know you choose the right place. We got there just in time. By the time we left it was a hour and a half wait.

Thanks for letting me know about this place.

Staying in Minneapolis one more night. Have a 5-6 drive into Grand Forks, North Dakota in the morning.

Hope everyone enjoyed the pictures.

There's another place there to eat, if you want breakfast in the morning...but it is supposed to be really hard to get in and eat.

It's called Al's Breakfast. It only has 14 stools in it, so everyone else is standing and eating. It's a staple for Gopher students.

How hasn't the Jucy Lucy caught on everywhere? If two bars in Minnesota could figure it out, this thing should be everywhere.

There are places you can get Jucy Lucy's...I know there was a place in Florida that had them when I was there at the beginning of the year.

The original can only be in one place though...

I was just at the Metrodome earlier this year.

One thing about 'scenery' in the Grand Forks area is that there isn't much. My sister lived their with her husband when he was stationed in the Air Force there. There can be blinding snowstorms (as noted, it doesn't usually melt, it just blows around). One cool thing to see is drive up to the International Peace Gardens at the Canadian border near Minot. Theodore Roosevelt National Park is out west. The Missouri River Valley from Bismarck down south of I-90 in South Dakota is great. And, you're not far from Winnipeg.

In the fall, you can watch high school and college football at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. Northern Minnesota offers a lot with the thousands of lakes you can find.

It has upsides, but the weather will drain you. You'll learn fast that you have to plug your engine block in overnight to avoid it seizing up.
