He was surrounded with all kinds of talent in Phoenix and still couldn't even get to the Finals let alone win it. He is too one dimensional and doesn't work hard enough on defense.

didnt know leading your team to a championship was a requirement to win the mvp. lebron never done it, yet he has two and had a team built around him.

Blake Griffin is leading a team to a record that is currently 10 games under .500.

If he gets that team to the playoffs, I would consider him an MVP candidate. Until then, he just becoming a really, really good player.

Since the 1982–83 season, every player who has won the award has played for a team with at least 50 regular-season wins (except for Karl Malone in the lockout-shortened 1998–99 season, in which the regular season was only 50 games long).[2]
From wiki's NBA MVP page.

Blake has no chance.

And also, there has only been ONE MVP named from a team with a losing record.

That was the first ever award back in the 1955-56 season, awarded to Bob Pettit of the St. Louis Hawks who finished 33-39.

There is plenty of time left for Blake. They were close to 20 under .500 a month ago, they could easily approach .500 by April. With Portland and Denver being a mess 40 wins could make the playoffs in the west. Add in everyone hating Bron, Kobe having a down year, and Dirk's injury, he could make a run at it.

Kobe's having a down year??

He's playing 5 and a half less minutes a game, of course his numbers are going to be down from last year.

I don't really care how many mins he's played and I doubt voters will either. I read somewhere his shooting and assist/TO ratio are both the worst he's had in 5 years. This was after their skid so maybe that's changed. If anything, less minutes should make those numbers better since he is more fresh. Regardless, as others have said MVP is heavily based on who puts up the best numbers. In MVP race talk he's having a down year.

Blake doesnt have a shot unless they make the playoffs, and even then its a long shot. But only 1 person said he was a candidate on this whole site, so not sure how we got here?

As it were, the Clips started out like 1-15 or something. They are young and since then have really turned it around. I have no problem saying they are a top 6 team in the West at the current moment. They are playing some great basketball, and are led by 2 guys with incredible motors and work ethics not to mention fresh legs. It wouldnt surprise me in the least, though I dont think it will happen, to see them make up the 7 game difference and sneak in as the 8 seed this year.

Kobe 09-10 season 27.0 ppg 5.4 rpg 5.0 apg 3.20 tpg

Kobe 10-11 season 25.3 ppg 5.1 rpg 4.6 apg 2.95 tpg

Playing 51/2 mins less I don't think his production is down at all.

It wasnt me. I started asking why Griffin wasnt included in any NBA top 3 teams. I dont consider him an MVP candidate.

it was me. he is a freak athlete, will be an allstar as a rookie and is only going to get better. Its not like its that far-fetched though..they were discussing it on espn. I didnt see what they said though. I didnt say he is going to win it..i think he will be top 5 in voting though.
