Iowa comes into Columbus in last place in the Big Ten but the Buckeyes only won by five two weeks ago out west.
Jared Sullinger had 24 points and 12 rebounds in the first meeting for number-one Ohio State, while Melsahn Basabe had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Hawkeyes.

I expect the same type of game from Sully.
But I doubt it will be a 5 point game.

This will (read: should) be a payback affair. Iowa is going to get rocked, folks, especially after the Bucks just reached the #1 spot and are playing in Columbus. It'd be a significant mental collapse if the Buckeyes were to drop their first game at home as the country's top-ranked team to an Iowa team that's as dead as lamppost.
Ohio State's first loss, in my opinion, comes not Saturday, in an orange-out that will certainly make the casual viewer want to purge, but versus Purdue at the Schott the following Tuesday. I think the recent close calls will finally catch up in that game, in which the Boilermakers will have a ton of obvious motivation to prove they are a legit threat.

I could definitely see OSU dropping a game to Illinois or Purdue.
I also think this game against Iowa isn't going to be very close. However, OSU HAS to lose at some point, and Illinois or Purdue seem like prime suspects. I thought the Illinois game would be more of a threat than the Purdue game though, especially since the Purdue game will be @ home.

this should be a 15 point game at worst, but IMO, the loss will come at Illinois...against Purdon't, I think Johnson will get his points, but the OSU D will smother Moore and Smith

Easy win in this game. Probable first loss coming Saturday.

Trap game has been used too often this season, but this is truly the first "trap game". However, I think OSU takes care of business and loses one of the two following.

I'll be disappointed if OSU doesn't win this game(Iowa) by double digits.
I disagree about first loss. I think OSU has a better chance of losing at ILL then they do at home vs Purdue. Purdue will be the first BIG game this year at the Schott. The place will be packed and rocking. I look for OSU to step up in this game. Purdue is also coming off a couple of losses. Not playing their best after being on a roll.

Illinois will be looking for payback from the 2005 game when they were ranked #1 and undefeated only to lose to the buckeyes. Though players from neither side were playing then, the Illini faithfuls won't forget.

JaJuan Johnson is a bad match up for Ohio State though. He showed his impact against us last year when they knocked us off and he only gotten better.centralbucksfan;642429 wrote:I'll be disappointed if OSU doesn't win this game(Iowa) by double digits.

But he didn't have to guard Sullinger last year. Johnson cannot guard Sullinger and Sullinger will struggle to guard Johnson. However, I could see Johnson getting into foul trouble early.

Sully will own Johnson. Period. This coming from a Duke fan too. (not that it has anything to do with the situation). Johnson will be in foul trouble the entire night.

Sully will own Johnson? O.o. Will Johnson be the first GOOD big man Sullinger has faced in his college career?

Johnson is good offensively, but he won't be able to guard Sullinger. Mbakwe is a much tougher matchup for Sullinger. You get Sullinger the ball every time down the court the first five possessions and chances are that Johnson picks up at least one foul. You make Johnson defend and he won't be nearly as effective.

Johnson is flat out better than Mbakwe and its really not even close.
As far as the Sully/ Johnson matchup...to start the game, Lauderdale will be on him and he on Lauderdale probably. Be interesting to see how long Matta goes with that. Lauderdale has played single digit minutes the past few games. He maybe needed to play more with this matchup. If Sully and Johnson are matched up...will be interesting to watch Sully strength against Johnson length.

not that I have to defend my opinion, but yes, it's very close, and as I stated earlier--we'll see how it shakes out after the game next week
