what the hell are you talking about? i can't even follow your train of thought?
Of course I said 25 in my first post? I said he wouldn't be having many games like that.
You said he averages 17, insinuating I said he averages 25. I didn't say he did?

Liar? Misquote? What are you reading?

LOL @ OSU being "Decent"

Only an ignoramus would call this OSU team "decent"...

They've had some tough wins in the Big Ten, which is arguably the best conference in basketball, along with the Big East.

They win by 3 at home to Minnesota, by 4 at Michigan
Not a marker of greatness, a marker of decency

Well then I guess losing would make Duke less than decent? Correct? Because a loss is less decent than any win.

It's amazing how tough Big 10 play is. Close wins over Minny and now UM...Penn State, though they'll be coming to the Schott, ain't no slouch.

Coach K: For us, I've said all along that we're not a great team with Kyrie's injury.

Not quite correct but close, without Kyrie Irving, Duke is merely decent. Will bow out in sweet 16, they are much like the 2007 squad.

But seriously, have you ever heard a coach say a team was great unless they had just won the tournament?

Sadly, I must retire. Will be interested to see what is posted in the AM.

Hope all have a good evening. Good night and Go Duke

You are either

A) Not very smart when it comes to basketball and level of competition
B) See A
C) See B

Minnesota was a top 25 team. Michigan is a scrappy team, as seen when they took KU to OT.

Duke has had some tough games recently as well, so quit talking out of your ass.

This is why I WASN'T worried about some of the weak OOC games we had. The Big Ten will get you ready for the tourney. OSU WILL lose a couple of games, but those losses won't really matter. What matters is what you do in March/April.

I want the Buckeyes to be tested.

UGH..this is getting incredibly annoying.

It's not JUST Big Ten play...conference games are tough for every conference. Stop making the Big Ten out to be some crazy tough conference, when there are upsets in every conference on a weekly basis.

Ohio State didn't really do anything too impressive on offense in that game, they shot 32%. They definitely won it with defense.

My thought exactly, though I left out the OOC schedule crap in hopes that that subject dies a slow death. People forget (I am guilty myself to a degree) of forgetting how difficult conference play is., and no, they'll lose a couple to probably an unlikely opponent.

Did I imply other conferences play wasn't difficult? If so my apologies.

Didn't mean to call you out specifically..i just keep seeing all over here "man the Big Ten sure is difficult" just because a top team is knocked off by a lesser team. It happens in every conference..the big ten is good because their top teams are really good, not because there are upsets in the conference.

I'm sure as a Kansas fan it appears so, but it is kind of a Big 10 homer board. And there will be upsets of top teams by lower teams, it happens every year.

Should be an interesting year in basketball. Typical Duke loss, poor 3 pt.% (too many attempts also) and an opponent who manages to make their weaknesses disappear and puts together a stellar game.

Interesting. So I would then assume, that Kansas is just "decent" as well, since it took them overtime to beat Michigan. And of course now there is Duke, would be LESS THAN decent, considering a "decent" OSU team obliterated Florida State on their home court, who just beat Duke. Ok, now I get it! lol

I think what makes OSU so good is the fact that they have 4 guys that could put up 30pts on any given night. Also, they all do it in different ways. Sully in the post, Dieblers the shooter, Buford in the mid-range game, Lighty as a slasher. It's easier for them to overcome a bad shooting night by a key player. OSU is going to get everyones best shot, which is a good thing for this team.

Don't read too much into the difference between Ohio State beating FSU and Duke losing to them. As someone above mentioned, the Big Ten in conference games are tough. Well FSU plays Duke well and it's a conference games. All conference games are touch as your opponent knows you better than OOC. Duke's lost doesn't surprise. Is Ohio State the number 1 team? Who knows, they have a lot of improving to do. The last 2 games they had chances to blow the opponent out and let them both back in down the stretch.

There are no great teams, only lots of decent teams. That is the point I have been trying to make.
Kansas is a decent team, they will likely lose at Baylor next monday.

Ohio State is a decent team, they will put up solid wins but they are far from a juggernaut some of you Buckeye fans believe them to be.

Duke is a decent team, not great. With Kyrie Irving I think they were a great team, but without him they are very average.

Dana O'Neill wrote an article that echoes those sentiments (while I rarely side with Dana, I think I ultimately have here)

#1 will be nice, but it's highly improbable that OSU will run the table, so it's a temporary thing...as long as we keep improving and continue to play team ball, we'll be right there in March...GO BUCKS!!!

I'm shocked.

FSU just lost to Auburn by 15.

Auburn lost at home to UNC-Asheville, Samford, Campbell, Jacksonville and Presbyterian. They also lost to Rutgers, South Florida and LSU, three BAD BCS conference teams.

Isn't this sport wild?

I think Duke, OSU, Kansas and 'Cuse are better then just "decent". I think they are all very good on most nites. But there are other good teams that on any given nite can beat those teams. Are things pretty wide open? Absolutely. There is no team that stands out head and shoulders above anyone else. Not sure we have had that since the Florida back to back team. Obviously, quite a bit of equality in college basketball. Which IMO, makes it fun and more interesting.

Agreed, this proves you can never tell what can happen from one game to the next. As cbf just pointed out, the race is wide open this year. One off night, one injury, foul trouble and you're beat. Purdue concerns me in the Big 10 as their defense appears to be stifling. It will be another great season for us to sit back and enjoy.
