I don't think he's ready either. 1 year with the team around him he had doesn't make him ready. Pryor's had a pretty good team around him for 3 years now and he's still not ready. It will be painfully obvious next year if a team tries to start him. Very, VERY few athletic QB's work out in the NFL. Vick is the best example. Young has had moments, but has never sustained it consistently, and everyone else has pretty much failed miserably. Newton's style won't work in the NFL (hell he was hurt in the NC game, what do you think the Steelers or Ravens D would do to him?) and he needs another year to improve his passing even more, because once he figures out he can't run consistently, he has to be a GREAT passer, not just above average. He's good now, but he could use another year to work on more stuff that he'll be forced to do in the NFL.karen lotz;637746 wrote:Are you drunk?

I wasn't arguing that Newton is necessarily ready to step in and start week 1 next season for whoever drafts him. I was asking him if he was drunk because he said he would draft Pryor one spot in front of Newton.

So being hurt in one game means he will have a hard time in the NFL but being hurt/injury free during the regular season doesn't mean he wont have a hard time?Red_Skin_Pride;637749 wrote:I don't think he's ready either. 1 year with the team around him he had doesn't make him ready. At Auburn, Newton had to go through 1 maybe 2 progressions before he took off running. He's never had to make 4 reads. He is far from NFL ready, but another year in Auburn's system isn't going to make him any more ready.

I think most of Auburn's offensive plays aren't designed to have reads (save the option game) they are designed to fool the defense and leave one or two receivers open. It will definately be an adjustment to an NFL offense for Newton.

Loss of Newton takes Auburn from top 5 team to out of top 15 real quick.

When is the deadline to declare? I'm curious to see if those five guys live up to their promise or not...

This is right. Players can fax in the paperwork and as long as its received before midnight tomorrow, they are good.

When was the last time there weren't any Buckeyes on this list? I know it's prolly because of "the promise", but would any of the Tat 5 have come out if not for this pledge??

I thought at least one of the Buckeye pledges would have jumped ship.
As to the guy who said he would take TP right around Cam Newton... are you serious? Not only is Newton a much better college player, but he also shows more potential for the NFL. He is a much better passer than TP and to me, appears to be far more athletic. With all that being said, I wouldn't pick Newton anywhere within the first 20 picks; however, I wouldn't pick TP as a QB until about the 5th or 6th round

I don't think there's much difference between Pryor and Newton. They have very similar passing numbers, and Pryor actually had to read a defense. Newton is in a one read and run offense. I personally wouldn't take either of them until at least the 3rd round.jordo212000;638941 wrote:I thought at least one of the Buckeye pledges would have jumped ship.

Newton was the second ranked passer by efficiency in the country behind only Kellen Moore. 50 less attempts, 3 more TD's, 4 less INT's. I don't believe I said he was a great passer or anything like that, but for you to make the claim (again) that Pryor is better than Newton as a QB is just your bias talking. Pryor has improved each year but he is still not a polished QB.

I'm not saying any of these guys will be great NFL qb's....but if memory serves me right i believe Mr. Brady up in New England was a 5th or 6th round pick, so it doesn't always go as to where they are drafted, either way i don't believe Newton or TP will ever be high draft picks...way to many flaws...
