That's not true. He is eligible because he has been out of high school for at least three years. In essence, he is eligible because he did go to prep school.

No, the rule has nothing to do with what he was doing at prep school. A player’s eligibility clock officially begins when he enters ninth grade because the rule is with regards to when his high school class graduates, not when he graduates.

Lewis was held back a year and thus was in high school for four years before going to prep school to finish his degree. That means even though he technically graduated in 2009 and is a true sophomore — his high school class graduated in 2008 so for purposes of determining his eligibility, he is treated like a third year player, not a second-year player.

The rule officially reads — “No player shall be permitted to apply for special eligibility for selection in the Draft, or otherwise be eligible for the Draft, until three NFL regular seasons have begun and ended following either his graduation from high school or graduation of the class with which he entered high school, whichever is earlier.”

So again, Lewis was held back a year in high school and that means his clock is a year ahead of what you would think it would be.

No your class that your entered into high school has to be out 3 years. So when Dion Lewis was held back his sophomore year the rest of his class were juniors while he was still a sophomore.

Being a true sophomore yes it does matter. He would be a junior in college if he was not held back in high school. He would not be having this argument if he was a junior, but the question was asked why is he eligible only being a true sophomore....in that reason is because he was held back a year in high school and his graduating class has been out of high school 3 years.

After his junior year of high school he attended a Prep School for his senior year. If he was not held back that would have been his freshman year of college.

You are a moron. You have to be removed from high school for THREE years before you can enter the NFL Draft. Look it up dumb ass. In order for Lewis to be eligible as a True Sophomore, he will have to either waited a year to join the football team, or attended a prep school. He attended Blair Academy I believe, before signing with Pitt. It does not matter if you were held back or not in high school. The reason for going to a prep school, and I COULD be wrong, would be because if he was held back in high school - you don't get five years of eligibility in high school, thus making him ineligible for his senior year. Look it up before you post your "facts" dipshit.
