Not that it matters now but I was wondering at the time it happened.....the Browns got away with an illegal play on that double reverse pass to Seneca Wallace. There were two forward passes on that play. Even THAT couldn't ensure victory. SMH

How many times has the "shoot the moon" trade really worked out for the team giving up picks? Even when the player has been great (Ricky Williams /Hershel Walker) the team has never made it up.

I think this is the most important draft of the new regime....they have got to find atleast 3 legitimate starters in this draft, but which positions they target will be interesting because we do have so many needs.

With three picks likely in the top 40, Heckert had BETTER not screw it up. It's a MUST that these guys be IMPACT starters. The one recurring theme I want to see in these players is SPEED, SPEED AND MORE SPEED. They obviously have to be impact football players but this team is so S-L-O-W it's pathetic.

I think they should address the OL in FA. And with the 1st pick take either Blackmon or Richardson, depending who's there. With the 2nd first round pick, either Michael Floyd or LeMichael James. (depending on who they take with the 1st pick) They need play makers and these guys are all play makers.

Would it be possible for James to fall to the 2nd round? If so, that could be a good scenario for the Browns to get Blackmon, then a LB with their 2nd 1st rd pick and then in the 2nd round take James. You get 2 playmakers to help the O and get a young LBer who can start right away. Then you can continue to go OL and some more DL/DB/LB to finish the draft. Then hopefully be able to sign some OL in free agency.

I'm not really worried about the running back position for the fact that RB is the easiest position to transition into from college to NFL. They can be found in any round and if you do your research which Heckert does a good job at, he will find a later 4-5th round Rb that can fill the depth chart and hope Hardesty is healthy next season.
We need playmakers and linemen....I say you go after a lineman with the first pick and then get that vertical threat with the 2nd first round pick. Then you address defense in the second/third round

The "you can find a running back in any round" is commonly thrown around but history shows you're much better off drafting one in the first 3 rounds. In the last 10 drafts there have been 56 players drafted to rush for over 2000 yards. 43 were drafted in the first three rounds. Micheal Turner in the 5th round is the only RB I see that has been a difference maker at RB drafted after the 3rd round. For those curious, since 2001 Philadelphia and Heckert have never taken a RB in the 1st round but their 2 best RB's (Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy) were taken in the 3rd and 2nd round, respectively.OQB;975809 wrote:I'm not really worried about the running back position for the fact that RB is the easiest position to transition into from college to NFL. Now I'm not advocating drafting a RB in the top 10 necessarily but I would be wary of waiting until too late in the draft.

I don't really want James. If we're going to go after an RB early, it's gotta be an every down back.
