Browns expected to name Bill Musgrave as their offensive coordinator.

Never heard of the dude, but I don't exactly pay attention to coordinator's all that much. Anyone have some insight on him?

Yeah, somebody Tweeted that Musgrave was signed earlier, and I bit on it, only to find out he ended up signing with the Vikes. It's not going to be easy finding an OC that wants the OC duties minus the play calling, since Shurmur is going to call the plays.

Well, ignore my post then.. lol
SMH. Maybe if I had looked two headlines above me I would have saw that he was already signed with the Vikings. Fail on my part.

Like DaBrowns said earlier, with Shurmur stating that he is going to start out calling the plays it will be tough to get an experienced OC to come here. Odds are, it is going to be someone like Whipple, that is a QB coach that would take the promotion, and maybe in a year or two take over the play calling duties.
Also, what are the chances the Browns will pursue James or Jacoby Jones this offseason? Both are UFAs. If either one could be had, would it lessen the need to take Green if he is on the board at #6 and instead get a pass rushing DE to play in the 4-3? Or one of the 2 CB's that appear to be top 10 worthy?

This mock has Green taken by the Bengals, with the Browns taking Robert Quinn from UNC

If the Bengals do let Ocho Cinco and Owens leave, they will desperately be in need of a #1, so that pick would make sense.

Id like the Browns to take either: Green; Amukamara; or Peterson.

the only thing that scares me about quinn is the fact that he's been away from football for so long because of the suspension...but we definitely need help on the dlineSportsAndLady;645461 wrote:This mock has Green taken by the Bengals, with the Browns taking Robert Quinn from UNC

Desperately? They seemed to be ok with out either at the end of the season. I think they have a solid WR core without either TO or Ocho.

If Quinn has a good head on his shoulders he'll be fine IMO.
Look at Mike Williams. Headcase, outta football for 2 years, got his head straight, and now he's a solid, if not good, WR.

I like Jacoby Jones as far as potential goes. But he dropped a ton of passes this year. He has size and speed, but has concetration problems. Maybe it will pass and he will become a stud. It wouldn't hurt to take a look at him.

The #5 pick in the draft better not be "solid, if not good"

In his defense, the Browns won the last 4 games last year, so they seemed to be okay with their WR corps...which we all know was definitely not true.

Are you describing Braylon Edwards or Jacoby Jones?

Quinns skillset >>>> Mike Williams skillset
Just using the comparison for a psychological comparison (not that it's an accurate one, who the hell knows what's going on in Quinn's head).

Browns won running the ball, The bengals put insane passing stats to end the season. Bit of a difference. Nice analogy fail.

Still, while their receivers played well, none of them are any better than a #2 receiver. Getting Green would be great because he could be groomed for a season before having to make a huge impact. TO won't be back. Ocho may not even be back.

They also need a QB, Palmer sucks, and is done. Bengal fans can thank kemo von ofhoffen (sp?)

Which one is it? They put up good numbers at the end of the season, so the receivers are good enough? But Palmer sucks and is done?Commander of Awesome;645967 wrote:They also need a QB, Palmer sucks, and is done.
Care to elaborate why WR core would be sufficient due to their production the last four games, yet Palmer isn't?

"If the colts got rid of peyton manning, they would be in need of a qb." Come on dynasty, that was a weak post.
As far as someone saying jacoby jones solves our receiver problems, go jump off a building. Getting jones would only be beneficial if we actually got a number 1 receiver to pair him with.

This was the first mock draft I've seen with the Bengals taking a WR though. And no one knows what they are going to do with Ocho Cinco. If they do take a WR, the writing is on the wall for Ocho Cinco. However, if they keep him for another year, I would think they would hold off on a WR with their 1st round pick.
