I think they're still bringing him along slowly. Whatever the reason, he's losing solid experience sitting on the sidelines. Like I said, after seeing Jackson play tonight, I'm not too concerned with Hardesty right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if they put him on the PUP and worked him into the offense later in the season.

An overall good game by the Browns tonight. Yes, preseason, but if you're not at least hopeful that this team can move in the right direction - you're stupid and don't know football.

We'll take it. I always look at the 1's and a select few of the backups. Offense looked sharp. I think we'll continue to see this and it should improve as these young guys become more & more comfortable in this new offense. The D still has a lot of work to do. Jayme Mitchell & D'Qwell Jackson were the main standouts of the 1's, imo. Need a lot of work on the pass rush.

At least you didn't turn this game off thinking "Damn, it's gonna be a very long season".

liked what i saw out of the first team offense - colt looked good and the timing with the wrs seemed very crisp. one thing that did concern me (i know it's early and they were very limited) was the lack of pass rush from the 1's against their 1's. seemed like rodgers had too much time back there. overall, solid first effort.

I think the "Camp Colt" sessions they had this offseason are going to be vital in my opinion. McCoy was able to at least become familiar with the team's wideouts, thus improving their timing.

Mariucci was saying on NFLN right before the game that McCoy had gone and worked with Favre on learning this system during the lockout, since he was obviously familiar with it based on the backgrounds of Holmgren/Shurmur. I wonder how much that helped?

I was at the Indians game tonight so didn't get to watch the Browns....just got updates off my phone.

For the first scrimmage under the new offensive and defensive schemes....I was impressed at how well they executed more so on the offensive end (Camp Colt sure did help these guys), but defense wasn't too bad. I agree with BR, the pass rush has to get better we have lacked that since our return in '99 we need those front 7 to be able to go after the QB.

Getting tired of all these players being talked up (Usama Young, Carlton Mitchell, etc) and then they are "injured" and can't play.

Overall I am impressed while I am watching the replay on STO right now....

Jordan Norwood stood out to me tonight. Hope to see him get more PT with the 1st offense...made some nice runs after the catch.

I just hope we finally have a WR coach who can develop some of these young low draft picks and undrafted free agents into quality starters....it seems every other team can find them but we can't. I sure hope that is all in the past now with this new regime.

Had some awesome seats tonight, sat in the 4th row near the 20 yard line... Peyton Hillis' TD was pretty much right in front of us..

Anyway, my take from the game:

-Colt McCoy looked great. Saw some very good velocity and his accuracy was damn near pin point. 9/10 for 130+ yards is pretty damn solid.

- WR's actually looked good. I think Greg Little is going to be a stud. However, Josh Cribbs actually showed some ability as a WR and made a nice TD catch. Robiskie is pretty much assured of a catch if the ball is near him. Can't wait to see how they look with MoMass back in the fray as well...

-Defense looked solid. DLine was good off the snap. Secondary was a bit shaky, but Aaron Rodgers will do that to you. TJ Ward was every where in the time that he was out there.

-Jordan Norwood could be a nice weapon. He has the ability to play some WR/KR and has great speed and change of pace. Really liked what I saw out of him. I can see why the FO was pimping him up.

Herm Edwards seems to love him some Colt McCoy.

After reevaluating this, one thing that jumps out at me is that Lawrence Vickers will be sorely missed. Granted, he was worthless as a WCO option (running & catching) but I have my doubts about Marecic being able to spring Hillis for big gains. Obviously it was the first scrimmage but that's one thing that jumped out.

The biggest weakness I see after this first game is our pass rush (which we may not have been sending many blitzed or using benard) and also our 2nd cb, Sheldon Brown.

This worries me as well, but I do think Marecic will turn out to be a good pick.

What's new? I can't remember a time the Browns had a good pass rush since they have been back.

Sheard will need to step in up. I think Jayme Mitchell will be their best pass rusher all year. Hopefully working daily against Joe Thomas will help Sheard improve.
