Just like Mangini will still be collecting checks from the Jets and Browns the next few years....haha

I never did get why they give coaches 3-5 year contracts.....cause 7 times out of 10 they end up being fired after 2 seasons!

According to ESPN:

The sources said Cleveland hopes to hammer out a contract with Shurmur within the next 48 hours and introduce Shurmur as coach at a news conference by Friday.

The contract should not be difficult to close, since Browns president Mike Holmgren, general manager Tom Heckert, executive vice president Bryan Wiedmeier and Shurmur all have the same agent, Bob Lamonte.

If Shurmur's deal falls through, the Browns could turn to former Panthers head coach John Fox, who spent Wednesday interviewing with the Broncos. Cleveland already has also interviewed Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey and Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell, but Shurmur is the candidate that has commanded the most attention.

Holmgren likes Shurmur and what he can bring to the Browns, according to the sources. The 44-year-old Shurmur has spent the past two seasons as the Rams offensive coordinator. Before joining St. Louis' staff, he worked on the Eagles coaching staff from 1999-2008.

Such a dud hire. Holmgren likes him because he thinks Shurmer is most likely to be a yes-man

He can be his little puppet.....complete opposite of Mangini.

Shurmur's offense 2010: Ranked 26th in the NFL
4846 total yards 302.9 yds/game 3268 passing yds 204.3 yds/game 1578 rushing yds 98.6 yards/game 289 total points 18.1 points/game

Cleveland's offense 2010: Ranked 29th in the NFL
4635 total yards 289.7 yds/game 2989 passing yds 186.8 yds/game 1646 rushing yds 102.9 yds/game 271 total points 16.9 points/game

Doesn't seem like a big upgrade on the offensive side of the ball...although he didn't have that many playmakers on that offense.

This is mostly about head coaches but I thought I would throw some new coordinators out there...

Singletary landed in Minnesota.
Rob Ryan is all but in Dallas.
McDaniels is now in St. Louis.

Can't believe Singletary is coaching LBs next season. Would have figured he would at least get a D-coordinator offer somewhere

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer as well as Bengals.com is reporting Brad Childress is in town and met with Marvin Lewis yesterday. If we get him as an OC I would be ecstatic!!! I know it wouldn't set the world on fire but anybody other than Bratkowski is an improvement!!!

they were dumb for letting ryan go. he should've been the head coach or at least stayed on as DC.
