A few months back I built myself a machine and I had been running Ubuntu on it since then with no issue. I got a copy of Windows 7 for Christmas and installed it today. Windows 7 cannot detect the network adapter. None of the drivers I have tried to install from Asus (the motherboard) work.

Weird. I built a computer, finishing about a month and a half ago, and I put 7 on it. Worked without any issues.

Sorry to hear, though. Bummer.

I don't understand how Ubuntu would have no issue with it, I just plugged in the ethernet cable and it worked. My mobo is marked "Windows 7 ready" yet it can't detect the network adapter after installing Windows 7.

Try the driver on Windows 7's site: http://drivers.windows7download.com/win7-asus-m4a88td-v-evo-usb3-amd-sata-raid-ahci-driver/ktkad.html

Barring that all I can think of is to look in Device Manager and see if anything is turned off or anything is unnamed.

Shit dude, I cannot read obviously. I was think that was a general package of drivers for the mobo not just the raid. You are correct, that does appear to be what you need.

I've had the same problem with my old HP laptop, and a friend in my dorm's laptop. Something to do with the motherboard and Windows. Can connect to wireless networks through Ubuntu and through a wire, but not in Windows. So far the only solution I've found is a new motherboard.

Eff that. I'll just ditch Windows if that's the case. It was a Christmas present so I'm out no money if I just quit using it.

I got it working. It wouldn't work by installing the drivers directly. I had 4 of them on a flash drive and while trying something else I found an "update drivers" button for the network adapter. I set the drive to search for new drivers to my flash drive and it grabbed the correct one and fixed the issue.
