The monitor is all squared away.
Now, I've been out of the Windows game for a long time. What apps do I need to get? Free or cheap. I don't like paying for software.

What kind of stuff are you looking for?
I use 7-zip for archive files because it's free.

Obviously switch to Firefox.
If you wanted Office 10, it can be found easily illegally.
If you like Facebook chat, you can now download AIM and it integrates with your friends list from there.
I don't do much computing at home anymore so I'm behind on the cool shit. I just get on at night to play WoW after the baby goes to bed.

I've already added firefox and chrome. I just installed rainmeter and did the god mode folder hack. I am searching lifehacker now for more recommendations.

Didn't really feel like Googlin' it right now. I'm busy at work (not really busy just don't want to google). I figured someone could give me a quick summary asshole.

Haha, just learned about it here myself.
It creates a folder with shortcuts/links to all your system settings. Seems fairly convenient and better than trying to navigate through all those control panel menus to find what you need.

I Wear Pants, any thoughts on this issue.
I had the new monitor hooked up with a DVI cable and after installing the drivers everything was great. It was displaying at the full 1920x1080 resolution. I realize that I have an adapter that lets me hookup my macbook pro to a second monitor using a DVI so I switched this maching to an HDMI cable. After I made the switch the monitor no longer outputs at its full resolution even though the display settings are correct. WTF?

What monitor are you using?
I'm blindly guessing but it could have to do with HDCP compatibility or something.

uTorrent is the bittorent client of real people.
And if you don't use 7zip for you're archiving/unarchiving purposes you're probably a retard. Like full blown retardation.
