Remember too that the diesel holds residual value. Even after 10 years a diesel will still be worth about $4000 more than a gas version of same truck.

i know you're a ford guy but i wouldn't buy a powerstroke for any reason. ever. i'm not even that brand loyal, i'd gladly buy a ford truck as long as it was not a diesel.

I disagree with this part of your post. The Duramax was introduced to light duty trucks in 2001 with several problems along the way until 2006 when they "solved" the problems. Time will tell if the Duramax will be as reliable as the Cummins which was introduced to light duty trucks in 1989. The worst problem with the Cummins early on was that they were extremely slow without any mods done to them. As far as reliability Cummins has stood there ground for years while we still need to see consistent proof of a 700k+ mile Duramax.

That's pretty bad ass. I always wanted to do a Cummins swap on a 95' F-350 Crew Cab Powerstroke.
