Nope just the wifi. 3g will do me no good on a ship. Plus I'm adding all my "free" books. I'm not gonna lie I went to BN and played with the Nook and the to the microsoft store. I'm really glad I got the kindle. It's lighter and better than the Nook. After playing with the Nook I don't like the touch screen bottom with the regular reading screen. There was definite lag with the touch screen.

I will suggest trying them both. Best Buy has them both setup at least the Best Buy's out here do. But they didn't have the kindle in stock. I was also at BN and the sales clerk was clearly lying about the Nook vs the Kindle, either that or just making it up. The kindle is so light, believe it or not 3 oz is a huge difference.

NEITHER - Sony Reader. Can borrow e-books from public libraries, can't do that with any other reader out there. Also runs some formats that don't work on Kindle and Nook. Sony is extremely overlooked in the e-reader market.

You can use the nook for borrowing ebooks.

That's cause Sony's ereaders are way more expensive than the comparable kindle and nook. Plus who needs libraries when you have torrents.

I agree on the torrents, but you must be very un-educated when it comes to price. Both the Nook and Sony Reader are 250 right now. The Kindle models are 190 or 380.

Sony can handle much more book formats as opposed to the other two.

I'm definitely educated on the price. I researched everything before I bought one. The kindle for only 139 beats the sony at 250. Even the nook at 149.

Fail.

Kindle models are $139 for Wi-Fi only or $189 for 3G+Wi-Fi.

Got my nook color today. It's pretty sweet, still kind of getting used to it. I need to figure out how to put all the different apps out there on it though

Wife surprised me with a Kindle this morning.

I'm still trying to decide what I want to download first for it.

I'll definitely hit up some torrents. But along with the Kindle, she gave me a cover for it and a $20 Amazon gift card for the Kindle store. So I might as well get the $20 worth before going to torrents.

If you're into inspirational stories take a look at this: http://www.amazon.com/One-Step-Time-Marines-Courage/dp/1600785298

I was living with his wife, then girlfriend, at the time of his "accident." They are good people.

Ytowngirl:

Speaking from personal experience, the Amazon cover for the Kindle with the reading light is PERFECT for reading while laying in a rack. Don't need any other light at all. I got one back in November and absolutely love it.

I have yet to download any books other than the free ones they offer. I've been reading Robin Hood and have a bunch of other classic books that I've never read. I'm looking forward to loading it up with reading material before going on deployment in February. Much much more convenient than having to keep a bunch of books in my rack.
