C'mon Man!

Sometimes you do and sometimes you don't. Use #3 at ND for example. Many great players have worn that number. How do you know who it is for? Maybe they aren't buying it for a player in particular but just want a jersey of whatever school.

I think the OSU jerseys released this year were #2, #8, #97, #51, and I'm guessing someone else. We all know that's Pryor, Posey, Homan, and Heyward.

I don't think it matters what the consumer knows, in legal terms, this would create a huge mess.

Because the jerseys sold each year, unless sold as a throwback (which would be noted) are from that year's team. That's why the numbers change almost every year unless you have a multiple year popular starter.
