Who said it's a bad hire?

I'd like to know this as well.

I think it's an excellent hire, as Muschamp, IMO, is next in line as a "great, young coach"...but only time will tell

Foley knew if Muschamp's name was leaked, Texas would do anything possible to secure a new contract, like Petrino got. Happens all the time, like Stoops was a done deal when Spurrier left for the Redskins. Foley knew how to get who he wanted this time. Insiders were leaked misinformation, and it worked. Its also being reported that Meyer resigned for 'health issues' again. I believe it, because of his sideline demeanor all season. In my opinion he needs to try a different pill.

Rumor is Applewhite and Duane Akina for OC - DC. I don't see Smart coming, he will be a head coach soon.

I know he is just trolling as usual, but Tiernan has been saying it on both threads since the second it was announced...

Just another good hire from LSU's 2003 coaching staff of:

Head coach - Nick Saban
Offensive coordinator - Jimbo Fisher
Defensive coordinator - Will Muschamp
Special Teams/Runningbacks - Derek Dooley

And Muschamp is going to have to go after recruits hard. Only 3 out of 21 recruits showed up to their huge recruiting w/e.

Dec. 10 was the big day scheduled for official visits this weekend. That all was just scratched Wed.
Muschamp was in charge of recruiting Texas, I see it getting better now. He can get Texas kids with his prep connections.

Major applewhite hurts Texas more than this "head coach in waiting". Major applewhite is the name that all texas high schools know.

I have a hard time believing that Leach would become an OC. I can't imagine him and Muschamp would get along

I don't think anybody honestly believes it to be a "bad" hire. I think people kind of assume that a place like Florida is going to grab somebody with head coach experience + success. Hiring well thought of coordinators seems like something that an up and coming program might do, not Florida.

That being said, I think Muschamp will do a good job. Just needs to find the right fit for the offense (I am 100% sure that guy will not be Steve Addazio haha)

Holgorsen would be a great hire at OC. Applewhite would be solid too.

If Appelwhite is named OC, who would want to mess with Florida? A Major leading the offense and the General leading the defense.

I didn't know the coaches played QB and threw 17 INTs. Or played offensive line and sucked....

To be fair Texas's defense was supposed to be one of the best this past year and they were not. I do not think this is a good hire because you had Dan Mullen or even Gus Malzon out there as potential prospects. Hiring a coach on a hot streak has major benefits in recruiting ect. To be fair Texas people were VERY upset about him leaving and are cursing Mack Brown, and blaming Brown not Muschamp for their recent troubles. I just think this is a head scratcher and doesn't make any sense, seems to me Muschamp wanted out of Texas as much as Florida wanted him.

I didn't see Texas a lot, but their defense was top ten in yards allowed. From the game reports in a few of their bigger losses, it looked like the offense gave opponents a short field with turnovers rather frequently. Doesn't mean it wasn't a disappointing season, but it might not be as bad defensively as it looks just going by the record.

Curious as to what makes Mullen or Malzahn so much better that you'd consider Muschamp a "bad hire" just because they were out there? Mullen has one year of HC experience, Malzahn has none. All have had some success as coordinators.
