Not only did Texas go through a tough Big12, he beat tOSU (Love or hate the Buckeyes they had a top 5-10 team) and then beat a loaded USC team in their backyard. I just don't see the level of competition being there for Cam. Newton is without a doubt up there for having one of the top seasons ever, I personally think VY did more against better competition.

Agreed.

I said if USC's defense was so "vaunted" they wouldn't have given up 40+ points, that's all I said. I didn't say USC wasn't great or wasn't one of the all time great teams, but Vince didn't play against the USC offense, he played against a USC defense that got exposed, which you CANNOT deny.
All I was doing was crediting LSU and Alabama's defense and saying that it's absurd to think that Cam Newton hasn't been tested. I don't think the SEC is the best conference, but they do have arguably more talent than any other conference on the defensive side of the ball.
USC wasn't exposed, it's that they were playing a stud like VY. He singlehandedly slashed the USC defense up that night.
People must have some short term memories, what VY did that year was incredible. Newton is great, no doubt, but VY did it from start to finish and did it against better opponents. I'll take Ohio State and USC of 2005 over Alabama, Arkansas and LSU of 2010.
