I was thinking about Price is Right, but do you know anyone who ever appeared on a big game show like Price is Right?

What did they win?

I'm just curious how they fund all of those prizes, etc.

I have a friend who is going to be on the Wheel of Fortune in the near future. I think it'll be televised in March/April but be filmed this month.

A college professor of mine was a "finalist" to be on Jeopardy, they never gave him the call...unfortunately. He is a genius.

Someone I knew in college was on The Price is Right. He won the showcase and got a Dodge Magnum. He still had to pay about $10,000 towards the car as he said the prizes they give away aren't exactly free. He had to get the car from a LA dealer and then pay fees just as you would for a car as well as shipping to get it back home. If you have won something else on the show that you may not want you can take the value of that prize and put it towards the car or whatever you like. Knowing that it kind of ruined the show for me but it would still be fun to go on.

A philosophy prof of mine also on Wheel of Fortune in the 80's apparently. He bragged about it on the first day and tried to get the class to solve the final puzzle as he made it all the way to the end of the show.

Went to school with two people that were on Jeopardy.

One of the guys was a 5 time champion.

The other guy had a NEGATIVE score in his one night.

Surprisingly (or not), the negative guy had far better grades.

The former girls basketball coach from my college was on Price is Right when the team was playing in a tournament in LA. He got called to "come on down," but I don't believe he got on stage.

My freshman year college roommate, who I still talk to randomly from time to time, was on Wheel of Fortune a couple months ago and wound up winning big on it. Like a car and a cruise or something like that.

Former Attorney General. ;)

My cousin was on Let's Make A Deal about a month or two ago. She is a college student at Masters out in California, and she was dressed as a Harlem Globetrotter. She won a living room set and a brand new Macbook.

First words out of her uncle's mouth: "I suppose I'll be the one paying the tax on all that, huh?"

There was also a guy from around Springfield that won Survivor a few years back. I didn't know him but worked with some people who did when i lived in Springfield (worst 16 months of my life).

I graduated with a girl that was on Deal or No Deal....I think she ended up with 25,000 or so.

And my former boss and his now ex-wife were on the Amazing Race...also through him I met and ended up friends with Rob & Amber (the couple that met on Survivor and got married) I haven't seen or talked to them in a year or so but last I did they were still happily married and going strong.

Old friend of mine from Campbell won some sort of music contest, now he's the lead guitarist for Lincoln Knolls. Played a solo set at half time of the Hubbard-Fitch passing scrimmage.....not quite the Super Bowl, but he seems to be pretty happy. If I get any more info I'll post it for everybody.

A guy in my town won the "yellow brick road game" or something like that and won some stuff and a Dodge Viper. Don't see too many of those around my town of 10,000.

A buddy was just on Cash Explosion last weekend for the second time. There is one more episode to air that he's on. I think he's won $65,000 so far.
