Before the RPG's there were real time strategy (RTS) games. There was WarCraft, WarCraft II, then StarCraft (similar game, was a real time strategy based game but set in space instead of Orcs vs. Humans) then WarCraft III. World of WarCraft (WoW) is an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer On-line Role Playing Game) and is more like Diablo (RPG) and Diablo II (MMORPG and RPG). Recently StarCraft II (RTS) came out to big fanfare this past Summer.
Blizzards next big release is going to be Diablo III... another MMORPG.
The WoW MMORPG is a quite impressive game, but almost too good because of it's easily addictive nature as opposed to the RTS (Real-Time Strategy) version of Blizzard games which are equally impressive visually and game play but don't require a person to play 3-4 hours MINIMUM a day to play at a "high level."
Now you know more about the Blizzard franchise of games than you wanted to.
