I'm thinking about it. I haven't been there for a while so I'd like to be there for the finale. If I can swing a personal day I'll probably take it.

Let me know, I assume I am going, as long as I am able to get a reservation (when we go, we are always the center table upstairs right by the bar, have had that table for years).

I would rather have Gant out there instead of him at this point. Optimally I would put Howard at the star Hines and Bryant at safety. Torrence has played the coverage he has been asked to play well. He isn't a stud but he gets the job done IMO. Our problem is out of position safeties who don't make the play (except for Hines and Barnett before he got hurt).

I'm quite aware that Bryant will not effect Torrence's PT as one plays safety and the other CB. Those were just random, seperate thoughts I had about the secondary....which is why I had spaced everything out. Sorry for the confusion.

Arkansas' O-Line is very physical. Their running game has really taken off the last 6 games or so. Their leading rusher - Knile Davis, is over 1000 yrds, and was splitting time the first half of the season with 3 other guys. Once he took over the job as the sole rusher the Offense really exploded. He is regarded as one of the top rushers in the SEC, on par with Ingram. He was a 4 star out of TX, and many believe he would've been a 5 Star had he signed with TX, OK, or one of the big time programs. The Buckeyes will have their hands full with this rushing attack if they try to sit back and play heavy coverages in the secondary.

a lot of QB's had the potential, and some did--but we still came out on top 11 out of 12 times...hopefully we can do it once more

Exactly. And if we do, he will turn it over.

Email just sent to the students a few minutes ago:
ATTENTION, STUDENTS GOING TO THE BOWL GAME! YOU MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH FACULTY TO MISS CLASSES!
This year's bowl game occurs while classes are in session. Students planning to attend the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on January 4 should bear the following in mind:
• No changes will be made to the winter quarter 2011 academic calendar as a result of the game. Classes begin on January 3 and will be held on game day, January 4, as scheduled. Students are expected to be in their classes on January 4.
• It is up to individual instructors to determine whether they will excuse absences and/or permit make-up work by students who miss class to attend the bowl game. Students planning to be absent for the bowl game should make arrangements in advance with each of their instructors. Faculty are not obligated to make accommodations, and their decisions are final.
• Students who do not report to the first class of the quarter for each course in which they are enrolled may lose their place to those on waiting lists.
• Those thinking about driving to New Orleans should be realistic about the time and distance. It is about 900 miles from the Ohio State campus to New Orleans. In optimum conditions, this is a driving time of more than 14 hours. Bad weather could significantly extend the travel time.
The overwhelming majority of students (as well as faculty, staff, alumni, and other fans) will be cheering the Buckeyes via television. Those who will be at the game in person should include coursework arrangements in their pre-game planning.

Sounds pretty discouraging to me... PS, not an undergrad, but for some reason they send these out to all students. We don't start class untill like the 9th so it wouldn't affect OSU students that are on the semester system

To sum it up: Go to the game at your own caution, your profs may not want you to though. If they don't want you to, you might not have classes to come back to. There'll be a lot of people watching it on TV so you don't necessary have to go to the game to support. Oh, and you should probably only go if you can afford a flight, driving's unreasonable.

thanks..very interesting...I realize that they have 50k+ students to worry about, but it sure appears that they're trying to dissuade students from going..could be wrong, though

Yeah, sounds a little discouraging, though I would suggest it's more akin to covering their ass.

Just a side effect of BCS bowling I guess.

I don't think it sounds discouraging. It does sound realistic. It's at the beginning of the quarter and not that much meaningful work is going on.

That is one hell of a drive. Me and 3 others made the trek for the title game. 4 deep in a 2 door Cavalier. It was one hell of a road trip.....except for the loss. :(

Agreed. I saw something where Auburn sent a similar message to their students that classes will be the same as usual. It is a university and being a quarter system means there is limited time as is. Besides I was there during the two national championship games, and they did not shut anything down. If they weren't going to shut it down for the biggest game of they year, I would not expect them to do it for the Sugar Bowl.

This is nothing new for OSU students. I remember I got the same email for the BCS title game in 2007, and before that the Fiesta Bowls in 2004/ 2006.
I had friends that went and just sent an email to the professor, had another friend take notes that went to the courses, and made up the work. No harm, no foul.

I received these emails every year too. I never had a professor that told me I would be removed from the class or my grade would be affected. A simple email as a courtesy to the professor is usually all that was necessary.

haha ditto. I can count on one finger how many times I went over to Don Drumm to watch a game. They seemingly always scheduled their games at the same time as the Buckeye games.

yup. and not to mention that nearly all of the players were d-bags. But that is neither here nor there. haha.

I had class with several of them, and every semester they squawked about how this was going to be the year they beat Mount Union. I had one professor make a bet with them. He said he'd spot them 35 points. Naturally they lost the bet, even with the points. The end of the semester was always pretty quiet :)
