Many will say (with little argument) that the MAC is one of, if not THE strongest football conferences in the entire state of Ohio.

So, I'm curious... what does the Chatter think the toughest BASKETBALL conference is in the state of Ohio? Disregard division, etc. Which conference produces the most winners and has the likeliest shot at state appearances?

It's easier to speculate with football as teams have to have a farely good record to get into the play offs. So many conferences do not even get teams in the post season with football.

With basket ball EVERY team gets into the post season, even if they haven't won a single game all season. The question then is how many rounds into the post season do you get before you start counting teams from a conference. And with more team playing basketball than football and the fact that it's easier for smaller schools to go farther in the playoffs than with football the turn around with winning teams is greater in basketball than football so having a lot of repeats from some divisions doesn't happen as much as football.

Ill go with the MAC for the smaller schools and the GCL (Cincinnati) for the bigger schools.

I will break it up into big and small schools. I am sure I will be leaving a couple out:
Small Schools
MAC - Like football, they have had a good run of getting teams into the state final four. Coldwater, DSJ, New Knoxville, St. Henry, Versailles and Marion Local have all been to/won state in the recent past. I didn't look it up, but it seems like there is a MAC school in Columbus every year.

IVC - Hiland and Garaway have made multiple trips to the state final four the last 10 years. It has been a while since Hiland won, but that may change this year. Malvern has had some trips to the regional lately, but hasn't quite broken through although they would hang with most d4 teams every year. Strasburg was in Cbus in 2001.

North Coast League - Bedford Chanel is a threat every year in D4 or D3. VASJ and Hoban are always good, and Cleveland CC has been good as well.

Big Schools
GCL - like the MAC, the GCL dominates football, baseball and basketball. You can almost guarantee either St. X, Moeller, or Elder will be in CBus, if not 2 of them in D1, and Dayton C-J, Roger Bacon, Alter & Badin fight it out in D2.

Columbus City League
Probably not the deepest league year in and year out, but they seem to have a contender or 2 for D1 and D2 every year. Northland, Brookhaven, Beechcroft, East have been there this decade. Africentric in D4 as well. Some others might have made it, I just don't remember.

Ohio Capital Conference
with 28 teams, they are going to have their share of quality teams. Some divisions are better than others I am sure, but I don't know how the schools are broken up, and I don't feel like looking it up.

GCL

I know we don't have many Cincy area bball fans here, but if you take a close look at that conference from top to bottom...it is amazing.
