Maybe one bcs title but he has 2 national championship titles
If you dont win it on the field, it isnt a championship. I dont care what the poll said, they didnt play in the title game.
Ok and thats your opinion

Bottom line is, if he wins a 3rd national title, who cares about the stats? Stats don't mean everything right?! Especially from you 2quik, in all the Kobe/LeBron debates isn't it all just about winning? If he wins a 3rd ring, he definitely goes down as one of the best college players ever whether any of you like it or not. I'm not a Gator/Tebow fan, but you can't deny him that.

Tebow is a historically great college player, but not the best. And he will never take a snap at QB in the NFL unless it is in a Wildcat package, and even then I doubt he will get on the field. What position is he going to play? He can't play QB in the NFL. He's too slow to play RB. Can he block and catch? If so he might play TE.

Most accomplished player....yes (if he wins a 3rd national title). Best competitor and leader....yes. Best player....no.

Barry Sanders, Herhschel Walker, OJ Simpson, Archie Griffin, Charles Woodson are just a few that were better players than Tebow.

I would even say Vince Young was a better college player than Tim Tebow. Had Young came back the following year, Texas may have repeated. We may never see a player like Vince Young, in college, again.

Vince Young's College Stats

Year Passing Rushing
Comp Att Yards TDs Int Att Yds Avg TD
2003 84 143 1,155 6 7 135 998 7.4 11
2004 148 250 1,849 12 11 167 1,079 6.5 14
2005 212 325 3,036 26 10 155 1,050 6.8 12
Totals 444 718 6,040 44 28 457 3,127 6.8 37

Only his junior year was he really spectacular and would have had a great senior year for sure. He was a great runner all three years, but look at his passing numbers. 6 TD vs 7 INT and 12/11. Not the numbers of the greatest college player ever.

We've seen college players better than Vince Young.

I'm not sure how anyone can argue with 3 titles when you're only on that level for 4 years. But whatever. If it were in the NFL this guy would go down as a baller. I hate Florida too, but I feel like there are a lot of bitter people out there not willing to give him his due. If this guy was about to graduate from Ohio State the majority of us would be calling him the ABSOLUTE best ever.

No D1 team has ever won it on the field because we don't have a playoff.

You've been ruined, have a nice day.

Obviously it counts because that's the way it all works--but clearly in his view none of ND's count either because there has never been a playoff. Which is correct in a way, do you really get a true national champion? Not really, you just get the winner of one game. I mean yes, the season is sort of like a playoff in college football now but a real playoff would actually match the best teams up who don't play during the season.

Never happen though, too many stupid people running it that only care about the money--without somehow realizing that they'd probably all make more money with a playoff. If you win 6 games you could still play in a bowl like normal, you just wouldn't be in the playoffs. Kind of like NASCAR, if you aren't in the Chase you aren't going to win the championship but you can still compete and win a race down the stretch.

Say what you want, you have to give him props for how tough he is.
Tebow is one of the physically toughest players you will ever see. All the haters said when he was a freshman he couldn't pass. Then he threw 30 and ran for 20 as a soph. winning a Heisman. Then he won a Nat. Champ. ring. Now he leads his team undefeated into the final 2 games and the haters have to reach for ways to call him not the greatest. He beat FSU 2 years ago with a broken hand. He takes the hits and keeps giving back. Played with a bad shoulder last year, had surgery right after the season. As a high school junior, the other team has 1st & goal to win the state title game late. Tebow went in at nose tackle and stopped them and Nease won the game. As a soph. QB in high school, he played 3 qtrs. on a broken leg. His coach felt like a jerk later because he had told Tim to 'tough it out' then after the game was won the xray showed a jagged break, not just a hairline crack.
I've been watching football 40 years, I could not pick one player as the 'greatest'. I think Tebow is the toughest QB I have ever seen. I can think of one who compares and that is Jim Kelly. I've met him a handful of times and he is physically big and tough. He recently said Buffalo should get Tebow.

SQ_Crazies has one thing right...if Tebow was an OSU player you would all be saying he is the greatest ever.

I go back again to the fact that Sunday night Tony Dungy said he would take Tebow on his team any day. Im pretty sure Dungy knows football, and knows winning football. Tebow will win in the NFL at the QB position because that's what he does (unless he goes to Cleveland...where no one can win).

Like I said you can hate him on the field all you want...(I am doing plenty of that this week)

But off the field you have the give the guy credit for his character. He really is a genuinely good guy, and I think it's sad that so many people are rooting for him to fail. We need some good guys in this world.

"Tim Tebow has made a career of piling up statistics, particularly short TD runs, against inferior opponents."
Yea because Tebow is the only player of the ones you listed to pile on stats against inferior teams. What was the point of this thread exactly?

No, no! You can't give him credit for what he is off the field! He's everything everyone says they want in a player off the field so they call him a fag basically. LOL, wrong or right, they still make you out to be wrong.

I like Tebow. HATE Florida but I like Tebow. We're just on an Ohio board, you can't expect him to get the props he's clearly earned on here.

He didn't say as a QB...I could see Tim covering punts and possibly wedge busting. He would be a great scout team player...his effort is unmatched and that's what you want from your scout team. He would be an asset to a team Monday-Saturday for sure and special teams on Sundays.

I know I catch all sorts of nonsense for supporting the guy. Just cause I like Tebow and what he stands for makes me an automatic Florida fan to some people. I agree you can like who he is and what he stands for without supporting the team. haha
