1) Oregon will beat Oregon State at home.goosebumps wrote:Why so confident?devil1197 wrote:Since that won't happen, I'd say no.Little Danny wrote:The question is-- would UC gain respect of Buckeye fans when Oregon State beats Oregon and OSU???vball10set wrote: ^^^so do I...I believe we'll receive more respect nationally when we beat Oregon--JMO![]()
2) Therefore the Beavers won't be beating the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl.

OSU would without a doubt gain more respect from beating Oregon. I just don't know if they will.

^^^ UC beat Oregon State at Oregon State 28-18. It wasn't as close as the score indicated.
It was the first OOC loss at Oregeon State in 26 games.
Incidentally, UC beat Oregon State in 2007 34-3 also.

Looking forward to this game. These West coast games at night in some area of the Northwest are fun to watch.
I will take Oregon 39-36

I think Oregon State is the better team and will upset the Ducks. Oregon State has been red hot and has a much better defense than Oregon.
State has been blowing people off the map...including a 4 touchdown blowout of the Cal Bears just 3 short weeks ago...and that game was at Cal. That same Cal team that beat Stanford, at Stanford, a week after Stanford blew out USC by 30 in LA.

Not sure why so many people think Oregon is clearly the better team, I think these two teams are close to equal. Oregon State under Riley always improves dramatically as the season goes on, so if you saw them early in the season, this is a much better team now.
I do think the Ducks will win mainly because of the home field advantage.
As an Ohio State fan in Oregon, I'm not sure who I'm rooting for, I think Ohio State will handle either of these teams in the Rose Bowl, but lots of people are enamored by Oregon so beating them would earn Ohio State more respect. However, my girlfriend is an Oregon State alum and Beaver fans are much less obnoxious than Duck fans, so that kind of makes me want the Beavers to win...

I don't think Oregon is clearly the better team. I do think that the match ups do skew in the general favor of the Ducks tonight though. If their running game gets going they will control the clock to a large extent and the play action passing game will open up. That will bring Ed Dixon into the game and Oregon State has no one that can match up with Dixon, they didn't last year. I think whoever runs the ball best will win this game, not necessarily for the most yardage but the most efficiently. The variation of the Ducks zone read scheme will make that happen and the ducks win a close one. 41-35

I don't put much stock into Cinci beating Oregon State, simply because Oregon State is a notoriously slow starter under Mike Riley. 13-15 in September since he became head coach (for the second time), and 43-16 from October on.
That isn't a knock on Cinci because I think they are a pretty legit team. I just wouldn't buy into anyone beating Oregon State early on.
I don't personally see them winning a night game in Autzen, but I wouldn't be shocked if they did.

Example, PSU stomping Oregon State early last year didn't mean much facing USC in the Rose Bowl.Mulva wrote: I don't put much stock into Cinci beating Oregon State, simply because Oregon State is a notoriously slow starter under Mike Riley. 13-15 in September since he became head coach (for the second time), and 43-16 from October on.

This game is going to be a very good won, probably 1st team to 40 wins.

I'd imagine that there will be a lot of Buckeye and Bearcat fans watching tonight.
As a Bearcat fan I want OSU to win
As a Buckeye fan I want Oregon to win
I think that Ohio State will beat either one of them, so I'm rooting for OSU tonight. GO beavers... almost game time.

Kinda disappointed that oregon went with the throwbacks this time. I was expecting some crazy color combination.

literally infinite. They have worn a different combination every game for the past 3 years. They broke out a new helmet design tonight with the mid 90's color scheme and the "O" logo that started in 1999dsjfan wrote: How many different uniform combinations has Oregon worn this year....every week it's different.

Those uniforms would be sweet if they had a different cap on.
