OSU, Wisconsin, MSU, and Nebraska (if they can win the B12 title game) could be 4 of the top 10 teams in the country preseason next year if they win their bowl games.

Next year will bring the first Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis. No more ties.

Any word on the division names yet?

Welcome to the Big Ten: Nebraska travels to Wisconsin for their first Big Ten game, only to come back home and host OSU the next week. They end the season with games at Penn State, at Michigan, and host Iowa.

OSU doesn't have it much easier early on. Home against MSU, at Nebraska, at Illinois, bye week, then Wisconsin at home.

Speaking of the the new member...here's hoping they light Oklahoma's ass up on the way out of the Big 12.

And speaking of other new members...do you think the spring/summer will bring more chaos with conference changes? Does the Big Ten start adding more in the next 2-3 years?

The Big Ten won't add any more teams until the Big XII teams are ready to move again or Notre Dame decides to join. And the Big Ten schedule next year will be a meat grinder.

I'm not sure if the Big Ten would even have to wait on the Big XII though. Texas has made it clear the way they led all the other conferences around in the offseason, and the creation of their own sports network that they are more likely to go independent than join a conference that they can't call the shots in. The SEC has shown interest in A&M, IF they could get OU to follow them. If the Big Ten came in and snatched up a team like Missouri, or even Kansas for hoops + the Kansas City/STL market, the Big XII would unravel.

One team is all it will take to unravel the Big Twelve. Whether it is Texas A&M jumping ship to join the SEC or Kansas or Missouri heading to the Big 10, one team leaving is all it'll take, and mark my words, it will happen.

The Big 10 and Pac 10 aren't done growing, either, and neither is the Big East, althought their growth will be from teams moving up from non BCS conferences and 1AA.

The Big Ten is already the top conference in the country, both on the field and off. I don't know if adding Nebraska helps us much off the field, but on it, they are a perennial top 15 team, along with Wisconsin, OSU, Iowa, and MSU.

I could be wrong, but I feel like Wisconsin and OSU will be losing a lot of guys after this year to graduation. Not sure about Nebraska though.

As for Nebraska, they have had 2 good years, after a long period of piss poor play. I think you have to wait a few more years before you say they are a perennial top 15 team.

Michigan State is a tough call for 2011. They return a lot on offense, but what about on defense and more importantly in the trenches?

I am a die hard OSU fan, but this is correct. To call OSU and Iowa, and even Wisconsin a perennial top 15 team is a joke. OSU is a perennial top 15 team. Michigan is a perennial top 15 team who has fallen on hard times. Nebraska was a perennial top 115 team in the mid and late 90s. Penn State could be a perennial top 15, but no way top 5 or 10.

It's hard to be a perennial top 15 team when you have to beat up on each other. This isn't the SEC where you can lose 5 games and still be ranked. This is the Big Ten, we don't pay for rankings, we play for Championships, and the Big Ten has plenty of those.

OSU Off Line will be better next year giving them a stronger running game. LBs & DBs will still be somewhat weaker than wev'e been accustomed to but not terrible. Decent Receiving Corps but Sanzy will be missed badly. I called 10-2 before this regular season so I'm plaesed with the 11-1. Wisky returns a strong Defense as do the Cornhuskers. MSU graduates alot on both sides of the ball. Bottomline - 2011 is another typical Big 10 season with 4 - 5 teams beating each other's brains out each week and 4 - 5 other teams being competitive enough to pull the occasional "I'm really not that surprised" upset. This what makes the Big 10 the most formidible conference in the Nation. Any team worth their salt should be honored to be invited to join...anyone listening in northern Indiana?

Nope. The Domers are already angry that they're barely .500 against the Big 10 in recent years. It's far better to be 6-6 or 7-5 with an exclusive Notre Dame Broadcasting Company contract than to share revenues with Purdue and Indiana.

Nebraska was a perennial top 15 team for over 30 years. The 70s, 80s, 90s, and even into the early 2000s. The only piss poor years were the few years in the mid-00s that were coached by Callahan. To put this in perspective, Nebraska during this decade (which is their worst in 40 years) is 84-44. Wisconsin during this decade (which is playing some of their best football ever) is 86-43.

I don't think any team in the nation had more success from the 70s-early 00s than Nebraska. With Pelini taking over as coach, and Osborne at AD, they are rolling again. It's scary to think that Nebraska in their worst decade are basically tied for second among Big 10 teams. Only OSU has done better.

The big ? for OSU next year will be the defense. Heyward, Rolle, Homan, Chekwa, Torrence, Larimore, and Hines are all gone. Hopefully Moeller, Barnett, and Bryant are healthy next year. I think Howard will be the next great CB for OSU. The LB core should be talented with probably Sweat, Klein, and Sabino starting. I think Big Hank will fill in nicely for Larimore. I'd like to see Simon move out to DE. Him and Williams could bring some big time pressure. Bellamy could take over inside.

Offensively, obviously Sanzenbacher is going to be tough to replace. Hopefully Carter comes back, and Brown can get over the curse of Taurian Washington and catch some passes. Jackson, Louis, or Fields may have to step up. OSU will also be losing Boren and Browning. Hall will get one of those spots I imagine. Probably looking at Mewhort or Norwell getting the other spot. I am stoked about the running back situation next year. Boom, Hall, Berry, Smith and Hyde. Hopefully OSU will come out from the start of the season and try to run it down the throats of our opponents. I imagine Pryor will be a preseason Heisman candidate, and I hope that doesn't influence the play calling.

There is so much talent at OSU right now that it should definitely be a reloading process. Next year, nobody will be able to talk about the SOS of Big Ten schools.

No I THINK we are going back up there in 2012 or 2013. 2012 only has 10 games scheduled right now, so we need 2 more games to schedule. Michigan has done this recently. We played Oregon @ Oregon in 2003, but they didn't return the trip until 2007.

I just can't see Michigan going back to UCONN, probably buy them out somehow. UCONN plays in a high school stadium and it would be hard to get up for that atmsophere.

Are any of OSU's RB's going to transfer during the offseason? It will once again be a loaded back field with Boom, Hall, Berry, Clyde, and Smith. After Boom is gone Hall will be a SR while Berry and Clyde will be SO and Smith will be a (RS) SO...so will they all just stick it out and just wait for their chance to get their touches or will someone bail and take their chances somewhere else getting more PT? I think Clyde will be a good power back when he gets to be a starter and Berry should be good if he ever gets more carries...

I pretty much agree with this post... Although I might say Florida State had as much if not a little bit more success than Nebraska in that time frame.

I completely agree: Since JOEPA started coaching at Penn State he has won 401 games, only Ohio State (404) and Nebraska (436) have won more games in that 45 year stretch (since 1966), so to say Nebraska is not a top 15 program year in and year out is not true. I would say that they are a top ten program and look to be returning to their old form.

And Penn State was a Top Ten program 1966-1999. Several strong finishes recently have shown that they are back to being where they should be. This year was down year for sure and they will be back strong over the next few years.
