Many teams I am not very familiar with....kind of like when we went into region 14. That turned out to be a ton of fun with all the Genoa faithful. Maybe there is another "Genoa" tucked away here in region 13....NAH!!!!! Never happen.

Only thing better would be to meet Genoa in the State Finals this year!

^^Haha their is no other school in Ohio like Genoa......they sure are one of a kind!

Back to Region 13 we go....and playoff games in Canton.

Region 13 looks weak Imo......CCC, Manchester, Perry, and Orrville being the normal playoff teams. I think since the switch back to 13, we have a shot to go back to the final 4 again...but we have to get it done on the field each and every week, and it started back in December in the weightroom!

I wouldn't say weak as much as unfamiliar. I remember Youngstown Liberty and some others can put together some good teams at times. Manchester seems to be on a roll lately as well. I agree that there are no giants in the region. Kind of like we felt when we went to 14 a couple years ago. You know there are good teams but none like Cardinal Mooney lurking about. It will be a situation where if we can get ourselves into the playoffs we maybe can make some make noise. No easy task with NW, Copley, Lex first 3 out of 4 again.

So, our schedule has,

DIV, 2 teams
Triway Reg 13
Clear Fork stays in 14

DIII 2 teams
Northwest in 11
West Holmes 11
along with Mooney, Dover, and Steubenville

DII 6 teams
Copley in 5
Senior 6
Madison 6
Lexington 6
Ashland in 7
Wooster 7

So once again a strong playoff points schedule, 2 our size and 8 bigger schools.

5knots....I was referring to the old region 13 which was my Junior and Senior year where their were 3 state title contenders in the region...Mooney, Steubenville, CCC, St. V. etc...

I really like our chances in this region though!

I know exactly what you mean. There are no giants in this region. It will be hard to deflect the expectations everyone will have for the Riders. Hence...the Hunt Is On!

Sounds good to me riders1. The time is near. Everyone wants to eat.....but who is willing to hunt? Our 2011 Red Riders team motto.

Expectations will be huge...big job for this year's captains & all the seniors will be to keep the team focused.

Remember, the 95 team was supposed to win it all after bringing back "everyone" from a state finalist team but they ran into Bellaire.

Kind of glad. Losing half your school population in 2 years time would have been historic.

Their fans were there early and took half the seats on our side, and it's pronounced "Blair" LOL

They kicked out butts on the field that night too. couldn't stop the Jose Davis/Ben Taylor connection.

some other things....

1. OHS Sports Hall of Fame Golf outing is Saturday June 11 at Riceland. Flyer is here. If you can't make it, consider sponsoring a hole. Money is used to award two $1,000 scholarships to Orrville seniors.

2. Picked up the book "Century of Heroes" about Massillon football. Good read so far. The stuff about Zwick transferring there and the stuff he dealt with in Orrville (car getting egged, mailboxes smashed, etc) was tough to read, and hopefully not the product of adults of this town.

3. Sports Hall of Fame 2011 induction class should be known by the end of the week or first of next week.

4. Spoke to Lexington coach BJ Payne on Twitter....said he's "tired of telling college coaches how good Mason Monheim is." I know he rubs some people the wrong way, but he cares for kids just like our coaches do. Apparently he's been spotted at Lexington wearing an Orrville hat...so he respects our program at the very least.

5. RE: Arlin Field....saw it with my own eyes over the weekend...no sign of turf being installed. Sod isn't being dug or anything.

5 knots, Is that really the slogan for this years team? I like it and can think of great props I may be able to lend for a senior team photo.

Congrats. I like the coach, our new field and facilities and I hope the program is on the upswing. The Titans are tough and they split with Tuslaw this year, but they have to be the favorites.

Good win for the baseball team...they've had another tough season (lost to a bad Mansfield Sr. team last week) but you have to have a short memory in baseball. Tuslaw was a 20-win team and ranked in the top 10 in D-3.

Congrats to Coach Marshall and the kids. Go put it all on the line vs. the Titans.
