I've said it on the other thread, but I'll point it out here too. In Division 4-6, the same 8 teams have absolutely dominated. Mooney, Ursuline, Delphos St. John, and Newark Catholic have 18 total state championships in those divisions (I guess, 19 now). Coldwater, Versailles, St. Henry, and Maria Stein Marion Local have 17 total state championships in those divisions. It's the same PROGRAMS every year that continue to do well and win a majority of the titles in divisions 4-6.
So go ahead and cry about how unfair it is that the privates do well in the smaller divisions. And then when you move them out...go ahead and cry about how unfair it is that the MAC does well in the smaller division. And then when you move them out, you can hand out participation certificates and juice boxes to all the teams so nobody feels bad anymore.

Little Danny;586698 wrote:I can't speak for those Shadyside lopsided scores because I did not see the games. This game however I did. DSJ was up 28-0 with two minutes left in the first half. It was apparent Shadyside was not able to move the ball the ball at all. DSJ called two timeouts before the half to stop the clock. When the got the ball back they took it down the field to score again before the half, 35-0. The starters remained in the game into the 4th quarter. They were still throwing the ball deep in the 3rd and early 4th quarter when they were up by 50-60 points. That is what I didn't like.
Little Danny;586703 wrote:They don't have to take a knee. I'm not saying give up or play half speed. I played football myself long to know you can't go half speed. What i am saying is there is no need to throw a 20 yard out pattern on 1st and 10 when you are up by 60 points late in the 3rd quarter. What I am saying is sit your starters and let the second and third stringers play starting in the middle of the 3rd when you were up by 50 and Shadyside had never crossed mid-field.
You forgot that Beallsville was also very cocky through all their wins, and leading up to that game. That's why people (other than the Blue Devils fans) were "all good" with it. They saw it as a comeuppance to Bville.Pick6;586672 wrote:Nope, in 06, the other year shadyside made it to the state finals, they beat beallsville 71-0 in the second round of the playoffs. Beallsville and other towns seen this as running up the score. Yet, Shadyside folk thought all was good. Now it just so happens they are on the other side of the scoreboard in the state championship game (not to mention losing by the exact same amount) and are crying foul. Seems like a double-standard to me.

Not that I'm sticking up for Shadyside or downing Beallsville. But, if we're going to bring that game up, might as well say all of it, right?
No..this just implies that region 22 and region 24 are just that much better...........and please don't take that wrong..but if OHSAA would have matched up Region 22 against region 21, and region 24 against region 23 in the semi finals.....you would have seen a better championship game..albiet DSJ did beat Sidney Lehman Catholic 49-7 in the semipaul_banks;586598 wrote:This game solidifies the public vs private argument. All of them. They all started kindergarten at DSJ. In fact I can't think of one who doesn't have one or both parents as DSJ alums.Be Nice;586889 wrote:^could be. Wonder how many of those juniors and seniors played together as 7th and 8th graders?
