I would have to agree with this. I did it once and I don't think it was worth it. You get so caught up in the frenzy that you end up buying things you don't need or forget to buy the things you do.

Seems these days almost every retailer is offering deals for "Cyber Monday," with many offering free shipping on most or all items. Off hand I know Sears, Walmart and Target are offering this (some may have a minimum amount to spend).

NO! Friday is our family Thanksgiving (has been for several years) and I would assume it will continue to be...therefor I will never have to think about going out on the town. Oh darn!

This.

I'm driving from Chicago to Minneapolis that day, and going to a hockey game that night. No way do I go anywhere near a shopping center.

Since I have never done this before, I have a question.

Does Walmart and other stores have a lottery system for the bigger items or is it first come?

I can tell you now, whatever you're looking to get, you might as well forget about it! In order to get one of the "bigger items" on Black Friday, you have to be one of the first 5 or so people in line. They all advertise having these "bigger items", but what they don't tell you is they only stock 5 - 10 of them. It's a ploy to get as many people in the store as possible.

There are other TV deals being advertised over the one I am going to try and get, but if I dont get one its not a big deal really.

There is an Ohio Sales tax when purchasing items online.

There's even area to report it nice and neatly on your State income tax form.

I'd rather sandpaper a bobcat's butt in a phonebooth rather than go out on Friday. It was bad enough out today.

I'll be going to at least Eddie Bauer (40% off everything in the store until noon). Other than that, I don't know. The only things I was hoping for a deal on was a Panasonic Plasma (S2 or G25) and a Kindle 3 and those appear to be non-existant.

Black Friday will indeed be a dark day for me, as I'm going out to...spend the day at the office working on a project that must be completed by Sunday night. Friday and Sunday are my designated "life sucks, I want to die".

How did this term come about? Should it not be called Green ($$$) Friday, or Ben Franklin Friday? I suppose for those that spend a bunch of cash it becomes a Black Friday.
