Patrick Dempsey practiced Friday then flew to Utah for the Sundance Film Festival because of a film he produced or something. He flew back and was signing autographs along with about 180 other drivers at noon Sat. His team finished 3rd in class today. Great job.

I've seen a lot of drivers, Braun included. Not saying he is chopped liver but he hasn't won anything in the big leagues yet. Grand Am is minor league, lots of so-called gentleman/pro-am drivers. JPM has already won at the highest level....F1, CART/Indy, and NASCAR. I think, in all honesty, that Braun should be targeting Indy Car because that's where his talents are truely at and belong. I hope he does and has gotten this NASCAR experiment with Roush out of his system. Lots of good Americans in Indy Car like Rahal, Hunter-Reay, JR Hildebrand, Charlie Kimble, etc. Don't get me started on Danica and Marco Andretti......lolSpeedofsand;658303 wrote:This is not remarkable ?
Colin won his Rolex 24 class when he was 16 years old. He was on the podium at the 24 Hours of LeMans in a Ferrari F430. He is the youngest winner ever of a major auto race in North America, when he won the July Grand Am Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona. Put him in the best car on the best team with tons of money and he could win anything.

I reckon I will be getting back with you sometime this season. First two seasons in Dodge junk. Last season was misleading. A lot of mechanical issues and crashes (some of his own doing, some not). Believe he was in the top six or eight in laps led last season so he had the pace. Was on average, the fifth or sixth best qualifier too. He's definitely no slouch on ovals, especially the plate tracks. He's close and I'm sure he will get there.GoChiefs;658326 wrote:To that, I say, when JPM wins on anything but a road course in NASCAR, get back with me.
I mean, he's had finishes of 17th, 8th, 25th, and 20th in the Chases. 145 races, 2 wins (on road courses), 5 poles, 18 top 5's, 41 top 10's, 22 DNF's, avg. finish of 22.6. Those aren't exactly stellar stats.

Dodge junk? Kurt seems to do alright in that 'junk'.GoJPM!;659036 wrote:First two seasons in Dodge junk.
Misleading? Come on now. Mechanical issues can all fall back on how the driver is driving the car. You don't know how to drive it, shits gonna break. Good drivers find the ways to overcome all that.GoJPM!;659036 wrote:Last season was misleading. A lot of mechanical issues and crashes (some of his own doing, some not).
He was 9th with 411 laps led, I'll give you that. BUT, I wonder how many of those were on non ovals? I bet ya without the road course races and Pocono, that number is cut in half.GoJPM!;659036 wrote:Believe he was in the top six or eight in laps led last season so he had the pace.
Avg. starting position was 11.6, but not sure where starting a race ever mattered? A lot of great drivers just can't qualify, for example, Jimmie Johnson.GoJPM!;659036 wrote:Was on average, the fifth or sixth best qualifier too.

Eh, restrictor plates aren't a matter of skill as much as they are a matter of luck in my opinion. But I'm not saying he's a 'slouch' on the ovals. He's mediocre, nothing great, but not as bad as the Robby Gordons.

Idle chatter with Patrick Dempsey
You actually have people telling you not to do this?
"Yeah, they don't want you racing. But to be here and have our first podium. And this track ... it's remarkable. You know, we had some close calls the last couple of years but never made it. For us, it was always, 'Gosh, when are we gonna break through?' I'm overwhelmed emotionally, because everything we've been working toward is to get here."
Ever felt better?
"No. Not since my kids were born."

Good write up on the GT winner,Pole was DQ'd, no clutch for 17 hours...

Instead of starting up front for the 49th running of the twice-around-the-clock event, Andy Lally, Steven Bertheau, Brendan Gaughan, Wolf Henzler and Spencer Pumpelly started at the back of the 48-car field.

LOL, I'm a fan, not a hater.
BTW, the Ganassi Dodges in '07 and '08 were junk. Come on, let's not confuse them with the Penske Dodges.
And I think 75 or so of his total laps led, for the season, were at The Glen. He led at Daytona, Fontana, Talledega, Indy, Martinsville, to name a few.

Ever cross your mind that the drivers might have had something to do with that?
