PS: I refuse to pay a ton for beer. Somehow, I feel it's our given right to have good suds.

Good choices Boris. If you are looking for more Sour Ales to try look into Victory Wild Devil or Avery Brabant.

I'm an Ale fan. I can't pick a favorite beer or Brewery for that matter. If you're a Stout beer fan, as myself, try Southern Tier's Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts. I'm a big fan of almost anything from Stone Brewery. I have over 40 bottles of different Stone brews aging. (The Vertical Epic from 06 thru 09. Old Gardian, Russian Imperial Stout.)

Like wine, the taste of a beer is going to change over time. Some beers are better fresh, but generally higher alcohol beers are good for aging, anywhere from 1-20 years depending on how high the abv is.

Anyway, Stone puts a lot of hops in most of their beers, so if you don't like hops, you might want to try a different brewery. Drink some Lagers that are more malty, Sam Adams, Great Lakes Eliot Ness and Dortmunder Gold, Oktoberfests, etc. Now a bunch of winter beers are out now so try them as well.

The point of aging them is that the flavor profile will change. I have over 100 bottles of different beers aging right behind me.

The Verticle Epic was designed to be aged. They started producing it on 02-02-02 and will finish on 12-12-12. I've aged the Oak Arrogant Bastard for a year then tried it in a side by side comparison. The aged one had a better flavor as the Hops 'fall out' of it and you can taste the malts better and the oak flavor comes through. I've actually been to a Stone beer tasting where they compaired their Barley Wine and Stout beers from 2005-2009. The older ones were smoother than the newly brewed beers.

If you going to age a beer make sure it's higher in alcohol or it may go bad. Aging a lower alcohol IPA is something I wouldn't do since the hops go away and the IPA style is meant to be drank 'fresh' so you can tastes the hops.

I'm not generally a beer snob (for anyone who doesn't know it's someone who downs another person's choice of beer) but it makes me laugh when I hear people say Pabst Blue Ribbon is a shitty beer but they drink Natty Light or Old Milwaukee. I've came to believe it has something to do with the fact that it's a heavier beer and a lot of people just can't handle it.

I had some wine this weekend that was pretty good. i bought 2 bottles and when I get home I'll post the name of it. It's a Pinot Noir. I'm not much of a wine-o though and this was my 2nd bottle of anything that wasn't boone's farm or from a box. so take that for what you will.

when it comes to beer, i like anything light (preferably bud) but when i'm presented with it, a beer called 90 shillings is a really good one and i'll have a few.

Cold & Free...best two beers period.

Probably Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat. I'm a huge fan of lagers though. I like to switch it up and try new beers.

I need to relocate. It seems everyone lives in a better area for acquiring beer than I do. I can find the usual around here but there have been some names mentioned on here that I have never heard of and I want to try.

Where to begin......

Favorite brand Dogfish Head. They have a seasonal brew called "punkin ale" with pumpkin, brown sugar, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Very good stuff! Mostly I drink the IPA's from Dogfish Head. Another one of my favorites is Youngs Double Chocolate Stout. I had a couple bottles of Samual Smith's India Ale a couple months ago, liked it.

Recently I had Stone Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, which is darn good.

In storage I have two bottles of Thomas Hardys Ale. One from 2003 the other from 2004. Hoping to keep one of the bottles for at least 10 years before opening.
