There is always a team lol.se-alum wrote:Problem is, no team wants to pay #1 pick money to anyone. I think it will be near impossible for the Browns to trade down.Cleveland cannot afford to take a QB with the #1 pick again. They must build the defense. Trade the #1 pick down inside the Top 10 and pick up another pick, then select Berry or McClain while not paying them #1 pick money.
I think the Browns need:
LB
S
CB
RB
RT
RG
In that order.
My order would be:
S
LB
RB
CB

I also think he will be asleep. The 3rd string tight end doesn't usually get much run so he will have to get comfortable on the bench.Keebler wrote: I think Tebow has the potential to be a sleep in the NFL.

They should stick to the defensive side of the ball. Eric Berry is the one player in this draft who i think can make an immeadiate impact....and he's extremely versatile. He's capable of playing both S and CB. I think Ryan could do a whole lot of things with his versatility.
If the Browns can't trade down from #1, then pay Berry #1 pick money. He's one of the few players in the draft who are actually worth that much, IMO.
I'd probably go defensive with the 2nd pick too. There are some pretty good LB's in this draft (especially if they all come out) and I think the Browns could steal a stud LB in the 2nd round like the Bengals did last year with Maualuga. Maybe the Browns could get lucky and Brandon Spikes fall to pick #33. I definitely think Spikes has the ability to impact a defense the way Maualuga has made an impact for Cincy.

I've always like Spikes. I would not mind seeing him in Orange and Brown. If the Browns get Berry and Spikes in the draft, it would make me extremely happy.charliehustle14 wrote: They should stick to the defensive side of the ball. Spikes is a projected middle-late 1st rounder. Unless he either falls like Maualuga or Cleveland gets another 1st rounder, it will be hard for the Browns to land both players.

Another vote for Eric Berry. Picks should be in this order:
CB/S
LB
RB
RT
DL
Depth everywhere
No QB's this draft. If Quinn isn't the guy, go get a serviceable veteran free agent to play QB next season. I think Quinn will be OK (not great...just OK) if we can upgrade the talent...you saw what he did against a team with equal talent (Detroit).
It will be 2011 before this team is competing for anything but a top 10 draft pick...might as well get the pieces in place and draft a QB later.

Mays is a freak athlete but I don't think he has the smarts to be a Ed or Troy type safety like Berry can be.slide22 wrote: Eric Berry or Taylor Mays

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't use a 1st rounder on Mays.

The Browns need more than one top round guy to bring them out of the funk they are in. I'm hoping the 70 or so draft picks we have stock piled are used wisely.

I wouldn't waste a first rounder on Mays either. Get Colmen in the 2nd or 3rd round if he lasts, he is better than Mays anyway.

Anyone have the entire list of picks for Cleveland? Looks like Braylon won't hit his mark either.

We should have figured he'd drop the ball for us at least one more time.devil1197 wrote: Anyone have the entire list of picks for Cleveland? Looks like Braylon won't hit his mark either.

Yea, Tebow won't make it out of the first round. Already several GMs who've said they'll take him if he falls to them in the first.
I have no idea who the hell to draft. We have so many holes.
The only QB I'd be comfortable taking would be Jake Locker out of Washington.

Just curious, what makes you comfortable with Locker and only him?

Browns picks
1
2
3
3 (Braylon)
4
5
5 (Braylon)
5 (Winslow)
6
7
7 (Louis Leonard)
Guys on my wish list:
Round 1: Berry, Suh, McClain, Haden, Derrick Morgan, Earl Thomas
If we stay in the top 5 I want one of the 1st 3. I would like to see the Browns trade down though and hopefully end up with 2 mid-late 1st rounders and take Haden and Thomas. There's your safety/corner holes filled right there.
Round 2: Dwyer, Sergio Kindle, Eric Norwood, Arrelious Benn, Anthony Davis (probably won't be available)
Round 3: Ryan Mathews, Eric Decker
1
2
3
3 (Braylon)
4
5
5 (Braylon)
5 (Winslow)
6
7
7 (Louis Leonard)

As I already said, Eric Berry is my pick. We need an intimidating playmaker that will make opposing offenses think twice bout testing him...
Taylor Mays is a freak athlete, but he takes bad angles towards the ball and while he can get away with it in college, he won't in the NFL...
I've wanted Eric Berry since last year, and if Rob Ryan is still around (I hope so), I think Berry would shine in his defense.

LOL @ anyone saying Jake Locker. He'll end up being one of the more overrated players in this draft class. He's a good athlete, but he's basically a poor mans Tebow. And there is no way in hell he should be a first round pick.

He's definitely a better passer than Tim Tebow. There is NO doubt about that.

I have doubts about that.
