Is Marlington really that good? Serious question because I haven't heard much about them. I know Dover has 2 very legit, impressive wins in the playoffs, so just that alone tells me they can play with anyone.

Here's a comparison of sorts (that people tend to use to get a feel for games) - however, I don't buy into this:
Week #1 Dover 63 Carrollton 14
Week #5 Marlington 48 Carrollton 14
Anyways, another real reason to not look past Dover is this is the 3rd straight Regional Championship for these seniors...tradition and experience can go a long way in making the difference in this Saturday's game coming...
Go Dover...you can do it...

correct me if I am wrong but didn't dover shut down a 6'2 220lb pound back this year that happens to be a D1 recruit?? He played for Coshocton if I am correct, so seeing backs this size and speed won't be new to them!! I believe the young man is going to Indiana.

^^Correct the young man is going to Indiana a D1 school. But he was the only thing in the back field. I agree with most the post about Dover having issues with the Marlington Dukes "O". I just truly believe Dover's "O" will be able to keep up one TD for one. Special teams and turnovers win this game. Dukes backfield is unbelievable this year, and will be next year as well. Should be a GREAT game, two 2-0 teams hitting on all cylinders. I for one can't wait. Film study, Hard practice and game planning will prevail.
RUN DOVER RUN!!!

J-Dover I know who #32 is not only a good running back but what a great middle linebacker!!! I just can't wait to see this 2 teams play.. 2 different offensive of styles both vey effective!! I wish both Marlington and Dover good luck!! Both class act areas from the students to the fans!!

I think the winner of this game get to the state championship ..and they better beat that Watterson team ..It looks real bad for the publics this year ..Alot of our big brothers are falling to the enemy and we all know Ursulin and Delphos st Johns are just playing out of formality...
i hope Dover wins the whole thing and we start playing again.... It will be good talk if you guys win ..

I just hope Dover can hang with Marlington. Hopefully we won't be embarrassed.

I hope we don't get embarrassed either. Our run D really does need to stiffen up. Should be interesting to see how many BIG offensive plays happen this weekend. As long as Dover has more, I'll be happy.

This could be a "classic"! I look for Marlington's offense to get their yards, but much like the past two games Dover's defense will make big stops when they need to. Dover will have to step it up this week just like they have the past two games. I did see that Marlington wanted to force LV to pass. I can guarantee they won't want to do that this week. I think Dover's passing attack will be too much for Marlington. With all that said, I look for a great game between two possible state champions. My prediction for this week will be Dover-35 vs. Marlington-28. GO DOVER!!!

I think Dover is going to score points...they are hard offense to prepare for. The thing that got Licking Valley was that they turned the ball over early and could never get a stop on defense. That big running back is tough to bring down and the other guy...is fast and shifty....he is damn good as well. I think Dover is going to have to score 35 or so to win this game....because I can not see them slowing Marlington down very much.

Can we bet on that one?
Winner of this game makes it to the state championship, I don't come on the high school forum again.

sherm,
How about you can't appear again until August 2011. Lifetime ban is pretty steep.

Let's face it..
In just like past two play-off games for Dover, the offenses they faced got basically their usual yardage. The key (s) however were Dover got the stops when needed...
With that said, we expect the Alliance All-Stars to get their yards to a point - only for Dover to come up with some key stops again...
I am glad we are going up against two stud backs - it's a challenge us Crimson Tornadoes love, and we really wouldn't want to have it any other way...
I heard there are Tornado Warnings casted for Fawcett on Saturday...

Woo's post shows just a glimpse of what this Dover offense does together. Keep it going Dover!!!
just to add one more you forgot # 29

I would be fine with that BigYtownRed. The only problem is...it would be very easy to stay away from the high school forum during the off-season. It was a ghost town around here last off-season.
How about this....
If the winner of the Mooney/Buchtel game makes it to the state championship over the winner of this game...thinthick has to create a thread titled "Private Schools Are Clearly Superior" and the text of the thread has to say "Anyone who complains that the Private schools have an unfair advantage is nothing more than a whiny pansy whose team cannot get it done on the field." You cannot post anything to the contrary on that thread, and you can't create another thread saying the opposite.
If the winner comes from the Dover/Marlington game, I will create a similar thread...however you want it worded...saying that publics are better and private schools cheat, etc.
That sounds better to me. What do you say thinthick?

I believe that it was Dover 45 and carrollton 7 at halftime. BTW i think its great we get to be the underdog again.Hobgoblin;559786 wrote:Here's a comparison of sorts (that people tend to use to get a feel for games) - however, I don't buy into this:

Region 11 chatroom recap:
Week 1: Dover can't stop Steubenville because of their running game and they're big.
Week 2: Dover can't stop Sheridan because of their running game and they're big.
Week 3: Dover can't stop Marlington because of their running game and they're big.

With regards to Coshoctons big back, he is nowhere near the back Marlington has.
You can bet your holy storms that Ifft will have his defense ready for this triple threat rushing attack. Dover's pass defense is very good being that half of them are prolific receivers anyway.
psst... Drew Pasteur picked the Dukes over Dover by 14... truly amazing what a North Carolina native thinks.
........and for the record, I wanted Marlington in week 1, not Steubenville. I figure it would have been an easier win.

Can't get over how BIG............. The ego's on here are. And you only see like 1 -2 people from Marlington on here talking. These boys are like the quiet storm. Talking to some Licking Valley faithful. They are saying Marlington isn't just good at running. They are good at Football. And it hasn't been the lucky get a stop or fumble type games. They just dominate... They also are a very well coached team playing with good sportsmanship. No trash talking. They do just like Bo Jackson used to say: "Do your talking on the field".
Good luck Dover your going to need it.
Marlington over Dover. Don't care if its by 1 or 50.

I love how the Big Red posters are pretty classy and have backed Dover for the most part after the week 11 win, but this guy from Sheridan is all butt-hurt after the Tornadoes knocked out his generals and can't get over it.
