Terrorists will always be able to get around security measures if they think and try hard enough.

Doesn't mean we should stop trying to be safer but it does mean that we should really think if these reactionary measures are worth it.

Precisely. Profiling based on who we think is "most likely" to bomb a plane is going to be based on our experience. Our experience is what has happened thus far. As such, profiling is reactionary.

Saw this one today on another website. If only it could work...

Here's the solution to all the controversy over TSA full-body scanners: Have a booth that you can step into that will not x-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on your body. You're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system, "Attention standby passengers. We now have a seat available on flight number 4665 "

The realistic problem is that any device that will explode a divice will kill the person, even if they didn't have any explosives on them. It would at minimum severely injure anyone through the device.

All explosive detonation things I've seen involve either severely high water or air pressure to cause the detonation.

Plus, most terrorists are going to bring materials to make a bomb on them, they won't be explosive as they are going through security. There are typically 2 or more components they have to add together to make them explosive.
