Basketball is the worst offender when it comes to Salary Cap.

You get teams like Boston, LA, and Cleveland going over the cap anyway, so what's the point in even having it.

They have them because they can outbid everyne else, spend $250 million/year on payroll and still make a profit. When you buy the best players you usually have at least a good team. How many times in the past 20 years has someone outspent the Yank$? How many years out of the last 20 did the Yank$ make the playoffs? (a necessary requisite for 'championships') A special independent commission comes to the conclusion that teams spending the most money almost always win. They have studies and statistics to prove it.

Only when they win another one will people complain. Ask the Marlins how much money a ring costs. They beat the Yankees with a 1/3 of the payroll. Like I said, it's easier to bitch about money than say your team should have stepped up and beat them. Whatever is the easier excuse!

LOL, a study that comes out in 2000 that studies the time between the strike in '94 and the year 2000 is proof to you? What would the same study show since 2000???? Come on genius, tell me. They did a study of a time when the Yankees won 4 in 5 years and had a dynasty going. They've still had a really high payroll since then and they didn't win so what now? I could do a lot of studies for a select period of time for almost any subject matter to make an argument sound the way I wanted it to.

There is always going to be one team that is on the top--no one is complaining about the Steelers or Lakers because it's harder to do--you can't just say they buy their titles. But they've been just as successful as the Yankees in the last 30 years.

Has nothing to do with my team sucking. It has to do with the salary spread in baseball....whereby the top spending team's payroll is 4 to 5 times higher than the small market teams.

Whereby the Steelers have done very well, the Yankees have done better over the past 30 years.

But let me add this regarding football versus baseball. Coaching is much more important in the NFL versus "managing" in baseball.

The Steeler success is a tesaiment to good management, but also a testament to good coaching.

Let me put it another way...a crude way...but a way that you might understand.

In Nevada, whorehouse "A" is allowed 1 million dollars to buy 10 gorgeous women. Whorehouse "B" is allowed 200K to buy 10 plain looking ladies.

Which whorehouse will draw in the most customers? Which whorehouse will be the most successful? Which whorehouse will generate the most revenue?
