What are everyone's thoughts? Last year we finished at 17-7 with our season ending as the district runner-up to eventual state runner-up Orrville, 69-65. We lose 5 seniors (Houmard, Brooks, Weber, Butcher, Wright) who were all great contributors last season in their own roles. Houmard was the go-to guy in the clutch, Brooks ran the offense like a PG should, Weber mixed it up with his length on defense, Butcher added a much-needed physicality and hard-nosed mentality, and Wright added quality minutes whenever he got the chance. Who fills those roles this year?

We have a few players in that list that can fill up a few roles missing from last year's team. I am confident with Coach Snoddy's philosophy that we can get everyone to accept their roles and once again compete for a PAC-7 championship. Sure, Timken is in our way, but that won't change how the team prepares.

(dang that pictue icon of you is just freaky!) So Pit, do you think your squad will be as stong as last years, or more or less so? As I recall your jv last year was pretty good? Will they have likely contributors? Just curious. We meet you in january, but have a few big games before then as well. Good luck in the upcoming season.

I hope Triway will have an outstanding year... and that they will lose huge on Jan 8! Won't be there due to son's wedding reception, but we'll be listening on the radio.

I have always enjoyed watching Triway. I always try to catch them during tourney time at the field house. They always seem to rebuild and are competitive every year.

I just found out we have a scrimmage this morning at 10:00 AM. Sweet! Time to start basketball season. Go Titans!

We played Northwest this morning, and, well, it was a first scrimmage. Haha! I had to leave after the first quarters, but Northwest was getting the better of us at that point. That being said, Northwest seems like they have the pieces to have a very nice team this season. Derek Carmichael and Sawyer Polen, two starters, had probably less than a week of practice for us having played in the first round of the playoffs last Friday. As a whole, there are lots of things we have to work on, but that's why we have scrimmages! Keep improving every day at practice, keep working on the necessary things at scrimmages, and we'll be ready for the regular season and, of course, the tournament! Go Titans!

My greatest basketball memory was Snoddy holding the ball for practically the whole 3rd quarter last year against Smithville....Makes me laugh everytime i think about it

The old Snoddy Stall in that game was classic. I loved the stay in your zone defense and see how many points you score the quarter philosophy. It certainly took Smithville out of any offensive rhythm they looked to come out and establish.

Brilliant coaching, but boring to watch.

I found it slightly boring but the reaction of the Smithville fans made up for it

how did this weekends scrimage go? who looks good?

Saturday's scrimmage against Black River was much better than the previous week's against Northwest. Much! Black River was a much worse team, but we looked much more like a team this time around, too. Not much to discuss in terms of individual performances, yet. Two starters finally have a week of practice under their belts, which helped in the Black River scrimmage. I'm sure Coach Snoddy will continue to get his team better each and every week. A lack of size may be an issue, but it hasn't hurt us too much in the past. We'll see what happens!

Triway won all their quarters except the last one, which was our 2nd team vs East Canton's first team. We aren't looking like a great team yet, but we have improved in each of our first two scrimmages, which is all we can ask at this point. Northwestern will be a big step up from our preseason competition, so we'll know right out of the gate this Friday what to expect this season. A number of players contributed at our Cloverleaf/East Canton scrimmage, and our 2nd team held their own very well when Coach Snoddy mixed them in.

from the sounds of things from last night it's all a concern. Beat Waynedale 55-52 in foundation game. Any report on the game

We beat Waynedale last night in the Foundation Game 55-52. We were up a good amount early and were on pace to win by over 20-some (in a different way than the JV game, haha!), but Coach Snoddy (and I'm sure Waynedale's coach) started trying different things. It was obvious that Coach Snoddy was trying to get kids with less experience some playing time at various points in the game, and this was the most evident with some of the substitutions made within the last minute or two when the game was on the line and with both teams pressing and being pressed. I've been at every scrimmage so far this year, and it's clear that we have a lot to work on; but what can we expect right now when trying to replace the key players lost from last year's team? We will be OK. We don't have a LOT of depth, but we'll need to rely on it in that all the kids will need to be a threat at some point or at some place on the floor, or else our lack of numerous, key go-to guys/scorers will be our downfall. We shot well as an entire team last night, I thought, especially in the first half, and did well at spreading the ball around (had 3 kids score in double digits with 2 others with 6+ points each). Throughout the preseason we can learn a lot about ourselves, and I'm sure Coach Snoddy is making the proper adjustments to maximize what he has this season and to put his team in the best possible situation to win. We'll see what happens Friday against Northwestern.
