The races in Ohio sure were closer than I thought they'd be. But that's alright by me, the scores reflect a fed-up populace. Ok, so now let's see what the newbies can do. I'm willing to give them some time to establish themselves and start effecting a reasonable "reform". But I think it's safe to believe that everybody, R's and D's, will be watching them like a hawk. And rightfully so.

What I am really hoping for now: That the (read as my) democrat party have been shook up enough that they will now take a good long look at themselves. They need to realize that there is and should be more to being a democrat other than being a college age kid or a old timer good old boy union stooge. There's alot of democrats out there who live in reality and not ideas.
Get your head out of the clouds, dems. Come back down to earth, learn your lessons, remember where you came from, and maybe myself and people like me can feel proud to vote for you again. I really didn't enjoy going to the voting booth this year. In fact, I only voted for 1 democrat, and that was at the very local level.

Also, I was looking at the Ohio map and wow, is it red now.

On the Ohio governor race, I saw Strickland got his home county (and mine) Scioto as well as Lawrence county and most SE Ohio. That is probably how he closed the gap. I talked to a few friends who still live in the area and they mentioned they decided to finally vote for Strickland just in the last week or so.
Although, both my parents, who voted for Strickland in 2006, voted for Kasich.

Yesterday was great victory for the individual (vs. the State). People pushed back against the power grab perpetrated by both parties the past 6 years.

The fight is not over. It is the opening shot. The tentacles of government dependence have invaded deep into the American fabric. We must be steadfast in resisting the creeping stranglehold of over-dependence on government.
It is the resilience of the empowered individual which gives America her strength.... self reliant individuals making their own decisions, taking responsibility for their actions, and reaping the rewards or the consequences of those actions. That is what freedom is, and that is what is embodied in the Constitution by our founders. They did not envision a government that entraps and ensnares people in a web of dependency. They did not envision a government who takes the people's hard earned money and 'cares' for them from cradle to grave according to an academic elitist's formula. No one can make decsions for the individual better than the individual himself. That is what FREEDOM is. That is what has always given us our strength. That is what we must persevere for. Complacent we dare not be.

Let yesterday's victory be a start. Let it be a gauntlet thrown down. Let it be the day when American's started to take back their government.

Yesterday was good but I don't buy that it's all good.

There are things the Republican party supports that infringe on people's rights too. Like the current case in the Supreme Court Schwarzenegger vs EMA.

You're right., it was actually Kasich and Newt. They did 99% of the heavy lifting; Strickland wouldn't know how to open a spreadsheet.

Well, according to PolitiFact, they say the following about his role:

Kasich deserves credit for conceiving, sponsoring and negotiating passage of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.

While they go on to say that his ad touting his role as being only half factual, it's obvious they give him much of the credit as he has claimed in the campaign (rightfully so). Strickland is not mentioned as a key player at all.

After watching this I noticed two things:

- she didn't play the game he was wanting to play

Have to laugh at people like Olbermann and Maddow who always go on about how demonic republicans/conservatives are and then basically in a childish whine they sit on their MSNBC perch and make fun of republicans/conservatives.

PSNBC was unwatchable, for the most part.

Olberdouche and his band of merry mental midgets spent the entire evening trying to make the election about the beginnings of a civil war within the Republican Party -- rather than actually looking at why the country was rejecting Democrats and their policies all over the place.

They kept saying how the GOP was "purging" via the Tea Party anyone who didn't agree with them (not true, for the most part) but they then ignored the indirect purge that the Democrats were causing in their party by forcing moderates to toe the leftist line -- and lose their jobs in the process.

Because of Obama and Pelosi's strong arm tactics with cap & trade and the health care bill, LOTS of moderate Dems lost their jobs last night. That was ONLY because the leftists forced them to back the party, rather than vote their conscience.

You can call it what you want -- but it's a purge, all the same.
