Yuengling is just above Molson Canadian & just below DortAu for semi-domestic. Above most other national American Lagers. I perfer Red Stripe for this type of beer.

...Yuengling is an acquired taste. I like the Yuengling lager when it's cold outside,

but enjoy a lighter beer like Hoegaarden in the summer months.

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy Yuengling, but if it were at a store near me I would pick some up from time to time.

weird. i've never seen a great lakes ad anywhere in my life thats some damn good marketing. i hate to break this to you man, but lagers aren't that good. Yuengling is not a special beer, people like it so much because they cant get it. When they can get it the novelty wears off in two months.

Lagers can be excellent.

I still hold that Yuengling at the same price point is a far better option than Miller/Coors/Bud.

LOL, this is a joke right? Please tell me where you have seen any Great Lakes marketing because I haven't seen it. As far as an "ok" beer, GL produces some of the best beers in the world for their respective styles and have plenty of awards to back it up. I don't get this fascination with Yuengling, there's nothing special about it.

That is the key right there.

I like Yuengling, but not more than most microbrews, but for the same price as Miller or Bud, it blows them away.

Yeah, if I'm spending a lot of money on a beer I'll get a St.Bernardus or something.

By the way, everyone try some St. Bernardus beers. Excellent.

Maybe. But, in DC I get both so I get to grab each regularly from draft. They are pretty much the same.

Did I hear Christmas Ale was released? Oh shit. Hopefully, that comes out to DC.

Ok, now before this pissing contest goes any further, lets lay down some facts we can all agree on, since everyone seems to be arguing the same thing over and over.

1) Yuengling is a very good beer, but it is probably not the best beer ever, but taste is not objective so saying "Yuengling tastes like shit" is meaningless.

2) Yuengling is a relatively cheap beer. Usually around the same price (sometimes cheaper) as Bud/Miller/Coors. For my money, I happen to think Yuengling has more taste than any of those.

3) Yuengling is not a craft beer. Comparing it to Great Lakes is apples/oranges. As some have said, I am not going to buy Great Lakes or any other craft beer on a regular basis because its simply too expensive for that.

4) Yuengling will no longer be a novelty item once it is widely available. This does not mean that people will suddenly ignore it once it appears at your local Kroger/Giant Eagle. If you're like me, and drink Bud Light on a regular basis but would like a more flavorful alternative at a cheaper price, you'll buy Yuengling more regularly than most beers because of the VALUE of the beer (value meaning, more taste for the same amount of money for you mouth-breathers on here)

Now carry on with your pretentious beer snobbery...

taste is a very subjective thing. Bud/Coor/Miller are not good beers, and comparing a beer to them is not a good measurement. Yuengling is better than those beers, but thats not saying much. i dont think paying an extra 2-3 dollars for a six pack is that big of a deal, especially when its a higher alcohol content and tastes substantially better. Wouldnt call myself a beer snob, or pretentious but say what you will.

I tend to buy more than six beers at a time. So no, 2-3 dollars isn't much, but $10 is.
