Just saw this come across the news wire on my phone, apparently this is a done deal after the Cardinals finished 4-8 with yesterday's loss to Rutgers. Any thoughts? Who might be in line for this job?

He drove that program into the ground in a hurry. Not sure who would take it at this point they may want to look at subdivision schools or D2 routes for a coach.

He eliminated a lot of problems in the locker room and discipline wise; unfortunately that depleted his depth and going the JUCO route to fill it really didn't work

One of the worst coaching hires I can remember in recent memory. Maybe he should have let them play undisciplined haha, because that discipline led to about 5 wins per season.

I figured it was coming though and he probably did too. You can't follow up Bobby Petrino with that performance and expect to keep your job

The article I read noted attendance was way down, and they're expanding Papa John's Stadium for next season. Wonder who they'll get to take this job, probably a lesser known coordinator from a BCS conference; I can't see them hiring somebody from FCS or DII

The hot name I have heard lately is Kevin Sumlin (Houston). Some other names I have heard are Phil Fulmer and Butch Jones. Jones is on everyone's dream list.

I forgot about Leach. He is certainly on the radar and I have read he is not happy with his situation in Lubbock. Can you imagine the Big East offenses with both Kelly and Leach in there?

Can't see Fulmer taking that job, or Mike Leach; Tuberville could actually fit. I think that would be a great hire if Louisville could pull it off

It's a tough job, Kentucky is an "ok" football state (not great) but with two BCS conference schools fighting for recruits its not as if recruiting will be a walk in the park, the facilities are better but L'ville is still known as a basketball school and it is a boring-ass city (aside from the Derby) and a crappy campus, I mean a really crappy campus.

There's a lot of talent in the Louisville area for high school football, but you're right except for that there's not a lot to ride home about football wise at the high school level; they might be able to compete with Tuberville and his reputation in the south to get some players, but that could take a long, long time to get him to start convincing kids to leave SEC country to compete in the Big East

No DI football programs recruit from their state ONLY.

It's not a huge football state, but that is a huge rivalry.

he should have; maybe he was waiting for the right job to come along. This job was really a great one when Petrino was around, and it could be again
