Playing a team twice in a season always is tough. DeSales has a great team and a great fan base. It will be a pleasure to discuss football with people who have a clue. With that being said I'm going with Mooney in this one.

Both teams are better than they were in week 2.

That being said....the week 2 game wasn't as close as the score shows.

Mooney wins this one.

Mooney 38
DeSales 13

I'm a little upset that this is the 11am game Friday; I caught the week 2 matchup and I'm sure DeSales is much improved from that game. Mooney was VERY impressive tonight though, as well as in the Week 2 matchup. DeSales has got to move the ball efficiently and avoid playing behind the sticks and in 3rd and long like was the case much of the first matchup. If they can do that and get some stops on defense, I think they'll stand a chance

It wasn't that long ago that a loaded Mooney team went in as big favorites vs Coldwater in the state finals, and lost.

That being said, this game is Mooney's to lose unless DeSales can somehow mostly keep the Mooney running game from getting to the 3rd level or Mooney coughs up the ball a few times.

No one will stop Mooney now that they've seperated themselves from the pretenders

No one ever wants to remember the ridiculous bad luck Mooney has had with injuries. I realize it's a team effort, but when it's week 15 it's tough to win without the best player in the state. Coldwater got lucky, they barely beat them and I promise you that with McCarthy, Mooney would have won that game by 2 scores at least. Coldwater wasn't anywhere near the best team they played that year--no offense to Coldwater either, they have a GREAT program. It's just funny how everyone wants to talk about Mooney losing that game but always leave out a huge detail.

As for this game, I'm taking Mooney 35-13. Same score I predicted for the Steubenville game. They're just too good. Best team in the state, they'd win the D1 state championship. Actually, I think this year there are a few D3 teams that could compete with whoever wins D1--including DeSales.

And at least we don't have to do the public vs. private BS. I'm so tired of that argument--last time I checked it was your high schoolers against theirs. Everyone talks about Mooney like they have 25 year old NFL rookies playing for them every year.

I know! We only have one of those.....the rest are all high school age kids.

Haha!

I just get sick of hearing it. If you don't like it then beat them--it's a bunch of 15-18 year olds running around on the field. If they have any advantage it's preparation, tradition, attitude and drive.

Private schools don't have as many kids that nearly never show up and drive up the enrollment, even without new add on students (even if they are rare for most schools) that's an advantage in terms of which division lower division teams are in. The bigger D3 private schools are D1 public schools in disguise.

And with the Coldwater game, Mooney was still big favorites even with the QB out. That's not much of leaving out a detail, if Mooney was still big favorites.

No, they're D3 schools that are bottom feeder school districts.

I agree that some of the private schools hav ea huge advantage over the teams that are suppose to be the same size.

If the kids at your school that nearly never show up and drive up the enrollment would like to pay a few grand to go to school, Mooney or some other private school will be glad to have them. Even if Mooney added another 80 kids (you can't tell me there'd even be that many in all but the very largest schools), they'd still be well within the D3 cutoff.

I don't follow either of these schools but from what I'm gathering, they both run the ball 95% of the time.

No Big Red fans...

No recruiting BS...

No public vs. private garbage...

Does this mean someone might actually talk about the game?

This one goes out to the DeSales folks...Is the same QB starting that started the game in week 2?

Congratulations to both teams for making it to the finals. Have a good week of practice and stay injury free. For the seniors at Mooney, this is your final game. How do you want it to be remembered? Ring the bell one more time. GO CARDS
