Heard will run for a ton again against DeSales...the line is just too tough!

It may be close at halftime...like 14-7 or so.

But I feel Mooney will wear DeSales down in the second half...and make the final 31-14.

Let's get ring #7 Cards!!

tank2nasty has been no where to be found since the game. If he does appear under another name it will just show the type of person he is. Best of luck to the Cards this week. GO CARDS

Im going with DeSales in a close one. Just my opinion here, not a bash against anyone. First game allowed 334 yds rushing and still lost by only 7? That first game will help DeSales am guessing.

Coldwater got lucky, they barely beat them and I promise you that with McCarthy, Mooney would have won that game by 2 scores at least. Coldwater wasn't anywhere near the best team they played that year--no offense to Coldwater either, they have a GREAT program. It's just funny how everyone wants to talk about Mooney losing that game but always leave out a huge detail.
Mooney fans and excuses.

Its curious how Mooney fans neglect to mention that Coldwater played the game sans one of their top WR threats. But somehow Coldwater dug deep into their roster and found a sophmore backup QB who lined up mysteriously as a WR for 3 quarters. Mooney didn't scout Coldwater well enough or they would have known that Wenning would be called upon for a trick play or two. On that day, the Coldwater roster outscored the Mooney roster. And clearly, the Coldwater coaching staff outcoached the Mooney staff. Coldwater overcame a key injury and Mooney did not.

Ok. Like I said, hard to beat a team in week 15 (clearly you're playing another great team) without the best player in the state. Pick names out of a hat for all I care, but Danny McCarthy was the best player in Ohio. It's not an excuse, it's a reason that they couldn't knock off a quality opponent. A little different when it's your starting QB/S/PR/KR too--he was more than a top receiving threat. QB is the toughest position on the field to replace.

But it doesn't matter anyways, that's well in the past.

Quality post right there.

You're awfully sure about that. Did you see the week 2 game? Because I did. It wasn't as close as the score showed at the end. Mooney shot themselves in the foot plenty with dumb turnovers, one of which turned into 7 points for DeSales in the first half. The 2nd touchdown was scored in garbage time and didn't really matter. Make no mistake about it, Mooney dominated that game. And if they play that well with no mistakes, it won't be nearly that close.

Mooney 38
DeSales 13

Opinions are extrapolated from known facts based on logic.

You are certainly entitled to take a blind guess though I suppose.

Is all good. It is though, that type of arrogance that turns most ppl against Mooney!! Atleast you arent spewing excuses why Coldwater beat you like your other brother.

Well, SQ Crazies is a Salem supporter. So his arrogance, if thats what you wanna call it, isn't from a Mooney supporter.

And if you wanna call me arrogant for calling you out for your "opinion" aka "guess" of "ur gonna get beat" without any reason as to how and why, and probably without seeing either team in person......I guess I'm arrogant then.

Cardinal Mooney is an unbelievable high school football team. I'm not a Mooney fan but I simply have to give credit where credit is due. I think everyone can pretty well agree that the Steubenville "Big Red" have had a tremendous year. They are an excellent football team. Look at what Mooney did to them. And why do we dwell on past year's results to denigrate the 2009 efforts of Cardinal Mooney?
Last year's results have nothing to do with this year's results. It sounds like sophomoric sour grapes and grasping for something to say to downplay the Mooney kids who have played exceptionally well all year. I know a guy who used to coach with us years ago who graduated from Columbus St. Francis DeSales. I know how good those guys have been in a lot of sports over the years. They will not beat Mooney unless we are witness to one of the greatest upsets of all time. I'm certainly not saying it can't happen, but Mooney has too many weapons for any other Ohio football team to deal with. At least in their division. I'm not entirely certain they couldn't win it all in any division this year. we'll see soon enough. DeSales will give it their best shot, I don't think it will be good enough.

I didn't see anyone answer the question. Game 2 had Mitch Herbert as QB. He was hurt in game 3 and since coming back has been playing safety. Nick Gentile has been playing QB ever since.
i figured there must have been someone new considering the record. the kid that started week 2 looked overwhelmed.

Thanks for the help!

Mooney44, Don't let your emotions get in the way of facts.

Desales last score was not in garbage time. It came with over 5 minutes left in the 4qt.
And Desales for some odd reason with nothing to lose in an early season matchup on your oppositions home field decided to kick the ball deep on the ensuing kickoff instead of maybe an onside kick . Mooney's Offense did what it had to do and held the ball long enough to secure the victory. Was Mooney the better team that night sure. But, they were one muffed on side kick away from possible OT.
Good luck to both teams. Who are without a doubt the 2 best teams in D3 and are not the same team that the other faced over 3 months ago. Should be worth the price of admission.

Are muffed onside kicks worth 7 points?

Would like to see DeSales win this one..but..after seeing what they/Heard did to the Big Red on STO..I just can't see it happening. Mooney by 10...how many yards rushing did Heard have in the regular season?

We lost to Coldwater twice -- we also lost to a Galion team that wasn't supposed to be on the same field with us. Nothing embarassing about leaving it all on the field and losing. We've also won six state championships and have won in whatever division they've put us in. I expect the game on friday to be difficult and DeSales to put up a much better fight than anyone else in the playoffs. Good will to the Stallions, but I hope that the Cards come away with their 7th ring.

Nothing wrong with ridgerunner picking Desales to win...heck...I picked Big Red to win...good thing I like crow with a nice port reduction sauce... ;)
No problem at all with who he picks, hes just being a otol about it.

Week 2...

First Downs
Mooney - 13
DeSales - 9

Rushing Yards
Mooney - 334 (Heard had 176...remember there's 3 other RBs you have to stop too!)
DeSales - 181

Total Yards
Mooney - 376
DeSales - 231

The game was not as close as the score indicated.

Yes, DeSales is a different team than in week 2...but so is Mooney.

Mooney in a not-so-close one as the Cards win Ring #7!!
