DeSales D is not the Big Red D. They are bigger, stronger, and faster. Mooney won't get to 20 points, DeSales might not either.

Does this mean someone might actually talk about the game?
This one goes out to the DeSales folks...Is the same QB starting that started the game in week 2?

Answer for Heard?
Week 2 vs. DeSales:
Braylon Heard, 16 carries for 176 yards.
Week 2 vs. DeSales:
Braylon Heard, 16 carries for 176 yards.

Yeah, how many did he have last night.Mooney44Cards wrote: Answer for Heard?

That was a long time ago in HS football time.
I'm sure DeSales can live with giving up 150 on the ground.
I think they get less, it's not like you have to even worry about the passing game.

Less than 150 on the ground? For Mooney? Is this a joke? Oh thank god you're joking.....

It's stupid to even call one player the answer for Heard. It'll have to be a team effort if you want to stop him--make it the job of one guy and you're done for.

He had over 300 yards last night and from what those at the game posted he looked as fresh in the 4th quarter as he did in the first.ridgerunner88 wrote:Yeah, how many did he have last night.Mooney44Cards wrote: Answer for Heard?

I never saw him do anything but sweep around the ends, but if you're that fast, why do anything else. Kids got an extra gear.

Spies are used at every level of football for a dominate back field player.SQ_Crazies wrote: It's stupid to even call one player the answer for Heard. It'll have to be a team effort if you want to stop him--make it the job of one guy and you're done for.

"dominate" is a verb....pronounced (DAHM - in - ate)
as in "Behind its stellar offensive line and flashy back Braylon Heard, Mooney proceeded to dominate Steubenville in the state semi-final."
"dominant" is an adjective....pronounced (DAHM - in - ent)
as in "Mooney's offensive line was dominant last night.
Coach Reno from Big Red is a pretty smart guy and has been in the game a long time. If it were as simple as putting a spy on Heard I'm sure he wouldve done it.

I never said they should use a spy, I was responding to a post that said putting one player on another is stupid.
Mooney has a great running back. DeSales has a great linebacker.

Braylon Heard has a pretty high mark to get into the state title game record books.
ALL TIME TITLE GAME INDIVIDUAL RUSHING RECORD, ALL DIVISIONS.
2001 D5 title game...St. Peter Chanel vs. Marion Pleasant
Tony Franklin...33 for 393 yards. St. Peter as a team 414 yards.
2000 D5 title game...St. Peter Chanel vs. Amanda Clear Creek
Tony Franklin...8 for -1 yards. St. Peter as a team 13 yards.
The defense does have something to do with it.
DeSales 21 Mooney 17

Did the defense have something to do with Mooney rushing for 334 yards in week 2?

I think Mooney wore down DeSales in Week 2; the Stallions just couldn't get off the field when they needed to, but they somehow kept it close throughout most of the 2nd half

You think they learned anything from that game? The loser always gets more out of it than the winner. We'll see next weekend.Mooney44Cards wrote: Did the defense have something to do with Mooney rushing for 334 yards in week 2?

Oh, my bad.
Mooney will blow DeSales out. I don't even know why they're playing the game.
Is that better?
NOT!!!

I didn't see anyone answer the question. Game 2 had Mitch Herbert as QB. He was hurt in game 3 and since coming back has been playing safety. Nick Gentile has been playing QB ever since.mlisi39 wrote: This one goes out to the DeSales folks...Is the same QB starting that started the game in week 2?

Good luck to the Mooney players and coaches in practice this week.
I watched the game on STO last night and was very impressed. It will take DeSales best effort to win, but heck it's the State Championship so you better have your best effort.
