There's no need for Mooney to have the starters on the field for the fourth quarter.

What is wrong with letting some seniors play their last few minutes?

DESALES scores with 15 seconds left in the game. lol. 20 years from now people will say, hey Desales played them tough in the 1st quarter!! I hate teams that keep their starters in against a team who just whooped their ass 2nd team and get cheap scores!!

Congrats to Mooney. They kicked some ass today and deserve to be champs. Did the real DeSales team show up? I thought they were supposed to be better than the first time around playing Mooney. They couldn't do anything today and it really was a ugly beatdown.

I saw both games this year and I do have to say that DeSales did make some major improvements since week 2, unfortunately for the rest of DIII so did Mooney. I'm not so sure that the Gentile kid at QB is much better than the kid they used back in Sept. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

The DeSales QB, along with the entire DeSales offense played their worst game of the season. Most of that had to do with Mooney's defense which was sworming. The DeSales coaching staff could not find anything that would work.

As for the DeSales QB, he sustained a wrist injury in the first half and had a hard time holding onto the ball after that.

The killer series of events was the punt play and then fumble on the 1 yard line. I knew that for DeSales to have a chance, they would have to be within 7 at halftime. That series made that nearly impossible.

All DeSales fans and community members are proud of our Stallions. We just simply ran into a better team today. The Stallion senior class has left one heck of a mark. 36-6 record, 5-0 vs Watterson, 3 CCL titles in their 3 years at the varsity level.

Congrats to Mooney. Your team is easily top 3 in Ohio regardless of division. Also many thanks for the invite to all Stallion fans to join you before the game. Your program is nothing but class from the players to the coaches to the fans. IMO, Mooney has taken over St. X as the model program in Ohio.

That punt changed the game no doubt. Great job by A.J. to even get it off.

^ He was definitely off of his game today and I can see where your comment came from. Part of it was the wrist, but most of it was Mooney's defense.

I would love to see Mooney and DeSales twice again next year.

Great post purple. That's how you react to a game with class.

Mooney was on a mission this season. Best team I've had the pleasure of watching play this season in any division.

Me too!
I saw them play earlier in the season and I thought Big Red was better!
But they were not to be denied this year!
Hands down the best I've seen this year and that includes the nationally televised games!

DeSales would have won Division III last year and probably would have won Division II this year. Bad timing in a sense. But them's the breaks I guess.

I agree that Mooney is the best team in the state, period.

Good post Purple_Rein, glad you clarified the situation with the quarterback. Best of luck to the Stallions in 2010. I too would love to see them meet twice next year.

It's crazy that the Mooney family could go from being totally ecstatic Friday...to being on the completely opposite end of the spectrum this morning.

My thoughts and prayers are with the rest of my Mooney family today.

What a bittersweet weekend.

Two Mooney seniors were found dead early this morning in Boardman. Authorities are calling it a double suicide.

I would not joke about something like that. It's a sad day for the Mooney family, and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

I was not accusing you. Just shocked at hearing of losing so many young people lately.
Good luck to all affected by this terrible tragedy.
