Early forecast says 32 degrees and flurries with a 10 mph wind.
Could be a white field for 2 teams that love to run the ball.
reminds of Oklahoma v. Nebraska back in the days of the Big 8.
How ironic that the coaches at Oklahoma and Nebraska went to Mooney right?
Not really considering those teams have nothing in common with the teams from the Big 8 days. Neither Nebraska nor Oklahoma can run a lick anymore. Their coaches will tell you that I'm sure.
The point is that I love a good ground game and can't stand the "basketball on turf" that some schools play. It's sickening to watch teams throw, throw, throw. Did you watch LSU throw 2 straight fade patterns from the 1 yard line two weeks ago? That would have Woody Hayes and Bear Bryant rolling over in their graves.
That is why I will enjoy this game so much. 2 teams that love to run the ball, but use different styles to do it. Gimme a good defense and 5 big uglies up front to power the running game any day. You can have the spread offenses that Field, Hubbard, Poland and Steubenville threw at Mooney. I'll show you 126-14 on the scoreboard at HALFTIME of those games. That's an average of 31-3 at HALFTIME for you math majors.
There is one thing in common that almost every team has in common that will be playing this weekend, they can RUN the ball.
Glenville
Davidson
Winton Woods
Maple Heights
Mooney
DeSales
Alter
Chagrin Falls
Ursuline
Coldwater
Delphos
St. Paul
All of those teams, with the exception of Coldwater and Glenville rammed the ball down opponents throats all through the postseason. The spread might be the flavor of the month, but when it comes to playoff time in the state of Ohio, the running game and defense are King.
